Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

I got the whole set of DVD's for my husband for Christmas one year and he loved them! He even went out and bought the same umbrella as Rumpole, which made me chuckle!

My husband and parents all love this series, which made me think it would be a great idea for Father's Day.

The series is funny but the mysteries are always engrossing, too. And I love Rumpole! The saying on this mug (referring to Mrs. Rumpole) originated with him:

Debbie - I like the way everyone thinks he's a fool but he always manages to outwit them in the end.

Kind of like a UK version of Columbo.

My son-in-law reads this series and he enjoys it. He always asks for a Rumpole book at Christmas.

My whole family reads these, and there aren't many books/authors we agree on!

Re: Father's Day Recommendation for June 8: Rumpole of the Bailey

OMG, I looooove Rumpole, becke! I was so pleased when the last two Rumpole books were released. The Penge Bungalow was my favorite, though--after all those years of Horace referring to his great case, we actually got to read about it.

BTW, the expression "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is not original with Rumpole, but is a quote from the novel SHE by H. Rider Haggard. Apparently Mortimer was a fan of Haggard's work!

My husband was born in Dulwich Hospital in London, but his parents were living in Penge at the time. So I snapped this book up the minute it came out!
