Well, changing the subject a bit from high bridges, I want to share that I got my fall schedule yesterday.
I'll be working afternoons for four days, and have more hours than I've been allowed for years, so even with the decrease in hourly pay rates, I think I may even earn more than I did last semester. Soooo happy!

Fricka, I am so happy for your.
I wish I had good news myself. I still don't know anything. I did not hear anything yesterday and will not today. LeeAnn, our director is off today. Thurs. the board will be meeting and interviewing 5 people. I am not one of them that I know of. So it does not look good that I will getting the full time I asked for.
I hope to find out on Mon the 20th what is going on. I am very confused and frustrated.
So again, congrats and I so happy for you. It must such a relief to finally know what your schedule is. I am very happy so you.

Good news, Fricka, that you might earn more with more hours. A little bit of change helps.

By the way, anyone who wants to look at pictures of the bridge can search for Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It is over 4 miles long spanning Tampa Bay.

Yeah, that Tampa Bay Bridge looks even worse than the Coronado Bay Bridge! Like I already wrote, I've crossed Tampa Bay off my list of places to visit(at least, by car!)
Jim, we had some thunder two nights ago, but no visible precipitation. It was sprinkling a bit when I left to go to the book signing in Scottsdale last evening, but wouldn't you know it, that was over in a minute or two! There are still a lot of clouds hanging around, but out here, that doesn't mean much. But, it sure would be nice if we could get some Monsoon rains in the next couple of weeks, so it would begin to cool things down before the Fall Semester really gets swinging. It's kind of a downer when the temps at the beginning of the Fall Semester feel like we're beginning Summer School!
Maxcat,, our staff meeting is today. I'm sure relieved to have gotten my schedule, as I was wavering on whether to attend or not. It's usually just a get-to-know the newbies and info on what our focus or "theme" for the semester or year is going to be. There's also usually a lunch provided, so that makes it nice, plus the fact that we get paid for attending. (It's not a lot, but every little bit helps!)

Fricka, I'm hoping you get more rain. My husband's relatives moved out to Scottcdale a few years ago from Pa. I hope they are enjoying the heat.

Becke, Hi, I had a nice day yesterday. My friend, Judy has a doctor's appointment then she came and got me. We went to lunch, she treated. We went to Wal-Mart, I got groceries. I was out of somethings. We went toTractor Supply and I went in and got her rabbit feed for her rabbits.
She will be entering her rabbits on Sat to the Somerset County fair. She also picked up my cross stitch project to enter in the fair. We will be going to the fair on Wed as we go to the Rodeo night. I love going then I love the rodeo.
I hope that my cross stitch wins a ribbon this year.
I gave her a cross stitch pattern I thought she would like and I had a snowman for her Wade collection and I gave her a piece I got for her at WadeFest. It is a spaniel puppy. He is called Christmas puppy. Very cute.
I am waiting to hear what happened yesterday when they have the board meeting last night to interview 5 people. I am still hoping that I will get full time. I am not sure if I will hear today or on Mon when I go to work. I really hope so. I love working there and so want full time and could use the extra money. Being there full time would make my dream job so much better.
So I will let you know when I hear something. It is frustrating not knowing what is going on.
I finished reading Catch Me by Lisa Gardner. It was very good. I never read anything by her before.

I was intrigued by this book when Joyce and I listened to it on the way to WadeFest and back. She finished the CD's and I got the book to read it and it worked out because I had to read a mystery for my book club at the library anyway. I recommend this book. Really good.
Will let you know if I hear anything.ReadingPatti
I'm a big fan of Lisa Gardner's books, too! Glad you had such a fun day.

Notice all the empty bookcases - and I've given away probably 10 bookcases!

It was sad, but among the things we gave away were 10 bookcases and 1,500+ books!

Becke, I am sorry that you gave that all away. I ache because you gave away 1500 books.
I feel the pain.
Well I have news, I did not get full time. The board decided to hire someone else and they have been offered the job at full time. They did look at my resume. I am thinking that I did not get it because I do not have any library science courses under my belt or a degree in library science or enough experience.
I did think that I would be a leg up because I am alreay there and trained, but not to be so I go on with what I have which is not much.
I have $10.00 left after bills. I have to wash my clothes in my bathroom sink or the tub as I do not have money for the laundramat. I can't pay any new or used clothes. I barely have enough to me and Callie.
It is what it is. I am looking into getting part time as at home typists or work in an office on Thurs and Fri when I am off.
I can only hope that my bills do not go up or I am screwed.
I was going to ask for full time in November but I don't think that I will get it now.

Patti - Well, we really had no choice with the books. About 500 of them were gardening books I used for my work, and now I can access most of that information online. You all got some of the mystery books, my RWA chapter got a lot of the romance books, Marty's friends got a lot of his books, etc., etc. They went to good homes!
I'm sorry the full time job didn't work out. When things were tight for us I always worked a second job at a department store. Don't know if they're hiring now but maybe they will be soon with Christmas coming. Good luck!

I agree with eadie--all the experts always say to make your home look as free from clutter as possible. That's a very beautiful house, though-- two things occur to me. One, I would have a hard time leaving a house like that, especially if I'd lived there for decades with my family. It must be hard for you to leave all those memories, becke.
Second, I hope you can get a price for the house that reflects its real worth, and don't have to accept a lower price just because you are wanting to sell now. I hope whoever gets the house now will be a good caretaker.
Reading Patti, I am sorry to hear you didn't get the full time position you were hoping for. You might ask some discrete questions after a bit, like if you took some library science classes, would it improve your chance of full-time work? becke had a good suggestion about checking with retail stores for a second job. You might also check with some of the schools in your area--there are usually support positions like lunchroom/cafeteria work and so forth. Some people here in Arizona work the crossroads during the morning and afternoon shifts--they move the stop traffic signs when there are students ready to cross. You might check to see if there's anything like that available in your area. Also, since you've had experience working in a library, have you given any thought to applying to a nearby bookstore? They might not have a full-time position open, but I bet you could find they might need some extra weekend help. Anyway, good luck! Hope you can find something that you can enjoy doing, and that will help your earn more money. BTW, not sure where you live, but you might think about working in the luxury business-- I mean like house sitting for people who own a summer house or need someone to maintain their guest cottage, stuff like that. Something to think about, anyway.
