I just got my books, Becke and WOW is all I can say. I love Martha Grimes and James Patterson. I'm reading the Beatrix Potter series by Susan Wittig Albert. So this will give me another another opportunity to read another side of her. Plus the bookmarks and a badge. Did you have the badge made especially for us?

I found the badges/pins at Zazzle.com - aren't they cool? This time you all got some older books - you might want to check what they're going for on ebay; some might be first editions.

I hope I didn't overlap any, so you can both share them!

BTW - I have been going through every visiting author thread and every guest blog before I send the packages out. 3-4 comments to our guest authors will get you into Got Books? but the more you comment, the more books you get!

But if you're a regular and you're sick or something I'll still send you some books, bookmarks, etc. To those who are new to this thread, these are books from my own collection, a mix of old and new (sometimes REALLY old). The idea is to give you an incentive to comment on our visiting author threads AND to hook you on new authors. And after that I hope you will buy more books by those authors here at B&N. There's method to my madness!

Plus, my husband would go nuts if I didn't give away some books. This has been going on close to a year now, I think. I must have easily mailed out a couple hundred books. And my shelves are still overflowing!

:smileyvery-happy: No, just kidding!!!  With the monster TBR piles I have sprouting up all over the place, I'm almost afraid to participate!  Plus I've only made a bit of a dent in all the books you sent me last year!  I liked the ones I've read so far!

Sometimes I'm tempted to send YOU some books!!! :smileywink:

It's fun to hear what other people are getting, though.  Martha Grimes and Susan Wittig Albert sound good (I'm following her Beatrix Potter series, too)!  Except I probably have practically all of Martha Grimes' books already.

Dulcinea - I mainly count the featured author threads for these, but you are definitely a regular so watch for some books!

Awww, that's sweet of you, Becke!  That really wasn't my intention in posting that; I was just kidding around, but like an addict, how can I refuse an offer of free books, especially mysteries?! :smileywink:

Re: Got Books?

Love that visual, dulcinea3! I second that!

Got my package today--books, bookmarkers, and a great pin that reads, I Love Mystery Books. Yipee!

Now, becke, I am also going to relate a story here. I had been reading in this thread, so I knew you had sent some packages out. I had a dream one night that I'd  also gotten a package from you, but in my dream, there was also a sort of sun dress that was in the package, and it had a row of butterflies on it. For some reason, I didn't want my mom to know about the dress, so I was trying to keep it hidden. Weird dream, huh?

Anyway, all's well now that I finally got my package, and once again, thanks for your generosity!

I love it! Too bad the dress only came in young girls' sizes!

I got my package yesterday - thanks, Becke!!!  The books are great!  That old anthology reads like a who's who of great mystery authors!  I'm especially looking forward to reading The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey, since I've only read The Daughter of Time so far.  I don't know if you were paying attention when I recently mentioned that a late cat of mine had ruined my volume of Dashiell Hammett novels, but you have now restored half of them to me at a single blow, with The Maltese Falcon in the anthology, and the paperback of The Glass Key!  Perhaps you included Lillian Hellman's play The Children's Hour because of her connection with Hammett, or maybe you're psychic, because I actually have that movie on my wishlist at the moment!  I know that people here have praised Deborah Crombie's series, so I'm sure I will enjoy that, too, as well as the collection of short stories by John D. MacDonald.  I think I may have read a Travis McGee novel in the past.  I'm wearing the red herring pin right now, and I also love your Mystery Forum 'business card'!  Once again, I'm thrilled, and thank you so much!!!

You're off to a good start! Now just post on the visiting author threads and send me your snail mail address in a personal message. I send books, bookmarks, etc. once a month - as I've said earlier here, I'll pass on books to you, but I hope if you find an author you like that you'll get their other books here at B&N!

Have you read Lillian Hellman's PENTIMENTO? I used to have that book but I'm not sure where it got to.

I'm on a Deborah Crombie binge right now. I'd read eight of her books and realized I still hadn't read the most recent four. I'm on book 11 now - one more to go!

No, I've never read anything by her.  The only other work that I am aware of being familiar with is The Little Foxes; I have the marvelous movie starring the great Bette Davis as Regina.
