I GOT BOOKS today! What a great surprise--thanks, becke! Love the butterfly buttons, and if I am not too klutzy, I will try them out over Christmas vacation. The combination of books, postcards, and bookmarks is great--with all the books I have now, I can always use another bookmarker!
I wish I, too were going to Florida! I am saving my money for the Harry Potter convention there next summer. That should be a lot of fun, if I can afford it. I want to make a stop in Jacksonville on the way to Orlando, as well. My nephew and his bride live in Jax, as he is in the Navy and currently stationed at Mayport.

Fricka - if you add Disney World to your itinerary, be sure to stop in and say hi to my daughter!

November is coming to an end, and a new round of Got Books? will be starting soon. All you have to do is post comments on each of our featured author threads during the course of the month and you will get some free books!
Some of you got off to a great start this month! Have you stopped in to say hello to Katia Lief, our guest this week? I'm keeping a list and checking it twice!

Becke:
Thanks for the great selection of books, bookmarks and post cards! It was a pleasant surprise today! Hope I live to be 100 at least, so I can finish reading all my books!

LOL, Eadie - I know the feeling. I think I'll have to live to about 150 to read all of mine! Glad you liked the books!

*raising hand, Hermione-like* --Me, too! I used to look forward to carting a bunch of books home from the library, as I was a speed reader and did not want to get bored after reading through one or two books. Now I find my stack of books is getting to the place where I am finding it challenging to get to all of them as quickly as I once did. I don't know about living to 100, but I think I have at least a year's worth of reading, between the books I have received from becke, the ones I have bought after reading about a new author or book in this forum, and my usual forays to the library. Hope my eyes hold out and that I don't have to get tri-focals, ha ha!

Well, I'm not a speed reader, so I'll need the 100 years to finish my books. How do you speed read and retain what you read?

In my case, I just read fast out of habit. The only time my reading slows down is if it's a technical book. Or, in the case of The Iron Duke, if it's the first book I'm reading in a sub-genre I haven't read before. I LOVED that book, but since steampunk and cyberpunk are new to me, I read that one slower than most.
Normally, once I get into a book I fly through it.

I hope everyone got their Got Books? packages safely this month. This incentive program will continue until I run out of books. The December books won't go out until about the second week of January, though, because of the holidays.
Don't forget, if I hook you on a series, order the other books here!

Got mine today. A little mushed, but contents intact.
I think it's a sign my local post office is a tad overworked. Went by to drop some netflix in the outgoing drop box. ALL 4 were stuffed beyond the slot. Those are the huge could put a person in it drop boxes too.![]()

Were the books okay? I've been shipping them in those padded bags because I ran out of boxes. If those aren't working, let me know.

Oh yes. Everything inside looks okdoky. The bag looks like they gave it to a huge dog with iron teeth and black spit for a few mins first before they desided to hand it to my mailman. There's even a "oops ,sorry! call ...... if the packge is...." sticker stuck to it. But nothing inside is even bent so... (shrug) Looks to me like the bag did it's job!

Oh there's the sorter machine postmen call the shredder. My FiL who retired from there after the military, says around 2 packages a day normally get caught by it. Holidays apparently a guy gets put on it full time just to tug things loose from it's rabid jaws. He handed me the package saying "ah shredder bait!".

Hmmm. I'm getting ready to pack up the December Got Books? and noticed only three of you commented on all four visiting authors. Two more commented on three of the four, and a couple of you who usually "get books" only commented on one guest author thread.
I know it was the holidays, so if you made the effort, you'll get at least one book. But remember, if you want to get books from this incentive program the deal is that you'll comment on each of the weekly guest author threads. During months where we have lots of authors visiting, if I see your name pretty often in the comments, you'll get books that month, too.
I'll either get to the post office tomorrow or Monday. Enjoy!

Becke, I got my books today and thank you once again for all the signed bookmarks and the pin. Did you have those made? Anyway, it was a good selection this month and even a book by Lois Winston!
