Ellery Queen was originally scheduled but I had a couple requests to reschedule that one so people would have more time to read the books.
As an alternative I'm going with Doris Miles Disney - a few of you have copies of her old books, but they aren't all that easy to find. So I'm going to treat this as an introduction to her work - if any of you have read the books, that would be wonderful. If not, you'll get to meet a classic author and hopefully you'll come across used copies of her books someplace. (I keep hoping they'll be reissued, but that hasn't happened so far.)
From Wikipedia:
Doris Miles Disney (December 22, 1907 – March 9, 1976) was an American mystery writer. She was born in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and died in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Disney wrote 49 novels. Many of her novels were both best sellers and the bases for major feature films.
Disney was known for her character development and the creative mystery surrounding her plots. Most of her main characters were based on acquaintances known to her or her daughter, Elizabeth. Disney liked to use her society experiences as a female character base for novels.
She was survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Miles Disney, a writer and theater actress, as well as a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Laing.

Most of her books are relatively short - that was the norm in the Sixties, as I recall. Like Agatha Christie's books - they are so much shorter than most mysteries today!

Good luck finding one! There are a few available through BN.com as used copies, such as this one:
I have 4 of her books:
Black Mail
No Next of Kin
The Magic Grandfather
Voice From The Grave
I'm going to read VOICE FROM THE GRAVE. It's only 160 pages so won't take too long to read.
Most of her books are relatively short - that was the norm in the Sixties, as I recall. Like Agatha Christie's books - they are so much shorter than most mysteries today!
Lakeland Library Cooperative (my local library is a member) has bunches of her books available for inter-library loan. I just requested "Only Couples Need Apply." I'll let you all know what it's like!

I hope you like it! It's good to know her books are still in libraries.
