Re: Murder for the Holidays (Please add more!)

Love, love, love this thread, becke!  And, wow! that's an impressive amount of book covers with a Chriistmas tie-i!!!!.

Here's one I'd like to add to the list( I don't THINK you had this in your groupings, but I could easlily have missed it)

Six Geese A-Slaying by Donna Andrews

This is the first book by Donna that I read, and is it ever a hoot! I really got a kick out of all the mangled Dickens references, and if someone likes humor with their mysteries, this is a great choice.

Mrs. Jeffries and the Mistletoe-Mix-Up
This is the 29th Mrs. Jeffries novel, and it's just been released in time for Christmas this year. I haven't read it yet, but I bet it would be a good Christmas present for someone who likes mysteries.  I think there's an earlier Mrs. Jeffries book (or maybe two) that have been set in the Christmas season. Anyone here on this forum know what they are?

Not quite murder but still an enigma...three ghosts and such!

Christmas at The Mysterious Bookshop by Otto Penzler: Book Cover
Christmas at The Mysterious Bookshopby Otto Penzler (Editor)

Even readers who have never visited either location of Penzler's legendary Manhattan bookstore should enjoy these 17 short stories, each of which was originally published as a stand-alone pamphlet and given to faithful Mysterious Bookshop customers. The anthology's best tale, Lawrence Block's "As Dark as Christmas Gets," features the author's hilarious versions of Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin. . .

Re: Murder for the Holidays (Please add more!)

Thanks for the compliment, becke. Here's another of my favorite authors, with a Christmas-themed mystery:

A Highland Christmas by MC Beaton. Ms. Beaton is the author of two mystery series, one featuring Hamish Macbeth, and the other, Agatha Raisin. I read this book during the holidays last year and really enjoyed it. It features Hamish trying to help a young run-away girl, and the scene where he yowls at her overly strict parents is priceless! For fans of Hamish who haven't read this book, I highly recommend it, and for those who haven't yet discovered the red-haired scots police detective, you have a treat in store in this book.

Oh yeah, those stories  are great reading!

*waves hi to maxcat". I think there's another book that Charlaine Harris has edited, with a holiday theme, but I can't think of the name(s) right now.
