Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Sad, but true.  I generally know the characters and major plot points, and that's about it.  And the more I write, the less I know until I sit down to write it.
So if anyone has a magic writing wand, can I borrow it?

A couple of people have mentioned Jane-Emily and I never read that one. I'll have to add it to my list. Is this the one?

Ann - If you aren't tired of answering questions, would you share your "call" story with us? I love to hear how authors got the news of their first sale.

Re: Please Welcome Author ANN CHRISTOPHER!

Welcome, Ann, to our Mystery forum on B&N.

I was wondering how an attorney would be driven to write Romance novels, but I see that Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights were favorites of yours growing up. Jane Eyre is one of my all-time favorite books! The first time I read it, I was seriously afraid that Jane was going to end up marrying St.John, but thankfully, she heard the voice of Mr. Rochester's spirit calling her to come back to him.

Seeing as how you like the gothic novels, do you have any urge to replicate gothic elements in your own romance novels?

I just have one question for you where do you come up with your ideas for your novels?

Ok well I guess I have two questions :smileyhappy:

How do you come up with the steamy scenes that are typical of a Romance novel?

Hope you are having a great day.  I look forward to hearing from you

Re: Please Welcome Author ANN CHRISTOPHER!

Funny you should ask, Fricka.  Write now I'm writing a story that features a dark and stormy night, an intrepid heroine, and a moody and damaged hero.  It'll come out in 2012...

Re: Please Welcome Author ANN CHRISTOPHER!

Leigh, sometimes inspiration strikes, and sometimes I just have to sit down and think up a story.  And sometimes I flounder.  A lot.  Hence, my desire for that magic writing wand.
As to the steamy scenes, I love love stories, so they just come to me! :smileywink:
I hope the snow isn't too bad!
