Hi, Suzanne, thanks for stopping by to chat with us!
I always hoped to see Izzy take on Eden's ex - Jerry, was it? - not to mention that creep Ricky, and I rather lamented that lack in the original book about them. Any chance we'll see Izzy give Ricky what he so richly deserves in the new book?
Hey, Bente.
You'll have to read BTR to find that out. (I think you'll be satisfied.)

Welcome Suzanne!
I just read TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE over the weekend. Enjoyed Maggie's adventure with both Chuck and Charles! Interesting concept of time travel and trying to change the future.
I read INFAMOUS last month and really enjoyed it too! I will definitely be reading some of your other books in the near future.
Thanks for visiting with us!
Thanks, eadie!
I loved writing TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE -- it was one of those stories that I absolutely needed to tell. (And to write a book with two versions of the hero? That was so much fun.)
I actually wrote a screenplay version of that story, but never managed to get it sold. (Maybe someday!)
I'm glad you enjoyed INFAMOUS, too!
I enjoyed when Charles met Chuck the most. It was very interesting to watch them interacting in the same scene as the same person but seven years apart. Amazing how you wrote that scene! Was it difficult to decide how to write that or did it just come natural for you?
Oh, that was SUCH a fun scene to write -- it was really the story seed that started the entire book. The idea was to write a love triangle between the hero, his self from 7 years in the past, and the woman he's always loved.
And what a way to deal with the endless introspection of romance novels, right? Have the hero have dialogue with himself! <g>

I assumed you had a system but couldn't visualize one that would track so many characters. Thanks for sharing your process...it's amazing and I have a much better insight about why I love your books!!
The color coding also works when I'm doing revision. I print out a hard copy of the manuscript, and I run a highlighter in the character's color down the right hand margin of every page of his/her scene.
It's easy to flip through the book and focus only on specific subplots, because it's right there, marked in color.
The method really works for me.

Suz - I have a question for you. At what point did you realize the Troubleshooters series was going to be HUGE? Did it sneak up on you, or did one of the books in particular start you on this wild ride?
You know, Becke, I think it was after OVER THE EDGE came out.
I got a HUGE backlash from readers (lotta angry email! Yow!) who were PISSED that I didn't give Sam and Alyssa a happy ending at the end of that book. (OTE is Stan and Teri's book, set in K-stan, focusing on the take-down of the hijacked airplane. It's where Max and Gina first connect. It's also the book where Frank O'Leary is killed, and where Sam and Jules have their first real conversation.)
I was VERY surprised at the wave of reaction that came at me (hundreds and HUNDREDS of emails), mostly because it never occurred to me that people didn't realize that Sam and Alyssa WERE going to get together, eventually. Just not right yet.
It was then that I kinda thought, Okay, then. Let's do this. <g>
I'm sorry you had to deal with the backlash, but I'm VERY glad the Troubleshooters have gone on...and on...and on.
Ed told us something about your venture into movie-making on his guest blog. Do you want to tell us more about that?
Maybe this will be in your future:
Actually what I call the "backlash" was really a good experience. While it took me aback at first (and I answered every single one of those emails, telling them that Sam and Alyssa's journey was not over!!! I think I've been watching too much American Idol...!), I quickly realized what an incredible thing it was, that I'd made ALL these readers have such an emotional response to my books.
I'd far rather have readers email me with such passion than have them say, "Eh, the book was okay."
As for the movie! Yes, my production company, small or LARGE Productions is going to be filming a low budget feature-length movie here in Sarasota this June.
The movie is called THE PERFECT WEDDING, and it's a gay romantic comedy -- that's not about being gay. It's a pretty simple boy meets boy, boy loses boy, boy gets boy story that's set during a family gathering at Christmastime. There a subplot where one of the boys sister's is planning her spring wedding, and another subplot with that boy's mother and father -- the dad has just been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's.
It's something of an ensemble piece.
Ed and Jason (our son) and I wrote the script -- so it's a real family collaboration.
We're holding a casting session in both Miami and Orlando this weekend. (We're hiring many of our actors out of NYC, but we're still hoping to find some terrific local talent. Fingers crossed!)
We've got a great director for the project, and a really cool team of people (the team's still expanding). We'll probably have about 20 people in the crew when it's all said and done.
Shoot's going to take about 3 weeks, total.
(And then, at the end of July, we'll be throwing a REAL wedding for our daughter! Kinda crazy!)

News from Suz Brockmann
http://www.SuzanneBrockmann.com
http://www.facebook.com/SuzBrockmannTSWorld
********************
March 15, 2011
This is your official One-Week-Until-Izzy e-newsletter!
BREAKING THE RULES (the 16th installment in my Troubleshooters series) hits bookstores next Tuesday, March 22nd. It is, as it says on the front cover, "A novel that marks the return of Izzy Zanella."
Here are my headlines (and brief stories):
1) Publisher's Weekly gave BREAKING THE RULES a starred review, saying, "In the powerful sixteenth Troubleshooters title, Brockmann masterfully weaves the stories of the Gillman siblings into a single narrative that reaffirms the importance of family... The slowly rekindled attraction between Izzy and Eden is steamy, and Jennilyn is a rock for Danny, giving romance fans two delightful relationships for the price of one."
2) RT BookClub gave BREAKING THE RULES four and a half gold stars and a Top Pick, saying "Fast paced and filled with emotional landmines... Brockmann gives her readers a great story full of old friends and new adventures."
3) Reminder: The Virtual Signing for BREAKING THE RULES ends at noon on Friday, March 18th! (That's THIS Friday, gang! And today's Tuesday.) Place your order for a signed book (and a bonus limited edition copy of my new TS short story, WHEN TONY MET ADAM) now at http://www.SuzanneBrockmann.com/btrVirtualSigning.
4) Pictures (40 of them!) from my BREAKING THE RULES virtual signing are up on my Troubleshooters World facebook page. You don't have to be a Facebook member to see them: Go to http://www.facebook.com/SuzBrockmannTSWorld and click on photos (on the left side of the page), then click on the "photo album" for the BREAKING THE RULES Virtual Signing. (Click on the pictures to get a "slide show" with captions!)
5) The official Countdown to BTR is still going strong -- but you might have to head on over to my TS World page on Facebook to see it. My apologies, I've been having computer problems and I'm struggling to update my website. But the "Countdown to Izzy" will continue, every day (including special Saturday and Sunday editions to help you through the final weekend) now through March 22nd at http://www.facebook.com/SuzBrockmannTSWorld
6) 50 in 50! BREAKING THE RULES is my 50th published novel, and it's being released during this, my 50th year on earth. (That's kind of like the author's version of having a "golden birthday.") Which brings me to...
7) Sarasota in-store booksigning! Here are the details:
Tuesday, March 22, 2011 -- Sarasota, FL
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Barnes & Noble
4010 S. Tamiami Trail (in the Best Buy Plaza)
Sarasota, FL 34231
Store phone: (941) 923-9907
Note: Come help me celebrate the release of my 50th book! Join me right at 7:00 p.m. for a Q&A. Then I'll sign some books. I'll also have my fabulous gift basket of prizes -- backlist and audio books and other fun things! You get a chance to win a prize just for showing up! (Bring the kids -- they'll get raffle tickets, too. You just might win that first edition copy of GET LUCKY that you've been jonsing for, despite the godawful cover art...)
8) Audiobooks! I have heard the Brilliance audiobook version of BREAKING THE RULES, read by Patrick Lawlor and Renee Raudman, and it rocks. Audiophiles get ready! This is a particularly fun one, since I originally wrote Izzy specifically for Patrick to read. Note: The audiobook version of BTR is also available on March 22nd, along with the hardcover and the e-book versions!
9) Last but absolutely not least: My thoughts are with my friends and readers in Japan. If there are any romance authors on this list who have extra Japanese translations of their books -- drop me an email in a few weeks. I'm looking into the possibility of sending books to shelters and libraries in Japan -- but first we have to wait for all emergency aid (food, water, medical supplies) to be delivered. (I'll send out another e-newsletter when I have more information.)

Message from Suz Brockmann:
February 6, 2012
Two pieces of news today: an e-short-story and a Valentine's Day gift idea!
First: the e-short:
Meet former Navy SEAL Lt. Shane Laughlin, the hero of BORN TO DARKNESS!
I've written a special e-short-story called SHANE'S LAST STAND about Shane's final mission with his SEAL team, and it's available today in all e-formats!
Shane's Last Stand (Short Story)
You can read an excerpt on my website. It starts like this with a little mini prologue
By the middle of the twenty-first century, much of the world has changed for the worse. Despite advances in technology, crime has increased, drug use is rampant, and the threat of terrorism hits closer and closer to home. And in the dark days of America's second Great Depression, the divide between the haves and the have-nots continues to grow.
Many things are different in this dark and murky future, but one thing remains the same: Navy SEALs are still Navy SEALs.
And the only easy day was yesterday.
Chapter One
Something in Shane Laughlin's ankle snapped upon landing.
Or maybe it tore.
Either way, it sent him to the ground, and he bumped and scraped and bounced, jarring the injury over and over as his chute dragged him across the rocky terrain.
