We're kicking off 2010 with a January Extravaganza!

[ Edited ]

Usually, we feature two books/two authors every month. I'm shaking things up in 2010 since you all seemed to enjoy it when we had surprise visitors and lots of author visits this year.

I'm hoping to have FOUR authors visiting in January, although I haven't had final confirmation yet from Author #4 (who will remain nameless for now).

The three who have confirmed:

MARY KENNEDY - who is a debut author with three books coming out soon. (You may recognize Mary's name; she's a regular here!) Our feature will be the first book in her series: DEAD AIR

http://www.marykennedy.net/

SPENCER QUINN - We moved his visit from Nov. 2009 to Jan. 2010 so we could feature his new book, as well as his extremely well-reviewed first book: DOG ON IT and THEREBY HANGS A TAIL

KATHERINE HALL PAGE - our third author is multi, multi, MULTI published. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Bouchercon - we're featuring her 18th book, THE BODY IN THE SLEIGH.

*G.M. MALLIET - We have another multi-published author joining us! Her new book, DEATH AT THE ALMA MATER is a January 2010 release and will be our featured selection.

Hi Becke - AnneB here - The 3 picks sound really good - I've never read any of them, BUT, another series ????? How much will I miss if I start with #18? Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I'll add these 3 to my list - can't wait to hear who #4 is.

Re: We're kicking off 2010 with a January Extravaganza!

Well, this is the problem, Anne. Most of the really famous authors have written a LOT of books, and many of them write series. I thought it was worth it to invite the authors of some series so you all could meet them.

Some of you might want to read book one in a series so you meet everyone from the start. But in the case of Katherine Hall Page, read our featured book and then, if you like it, go back for more!

Re: We're kicking off 2010 with a January Extravaganza!

Hi Becke - Thanks, I think I'll do that. I was just over on the fiction board, and I was reading all the posts about using the library - I haven't used mine in a long time, so I think I'll start again - maybe this series will get me back there. I'm running out of room to store all my books, and I think that Santa may be leaving a Nook under the tree for me.....

Oh, aren't you the lucky one! You must have been a very good girl this year! Let us know how you like it, if Santa does bring you one.

We might even have five authors visiting in January. It's going to be a New Year's Party! I'll post the other one, or possibly two, as soon as I get confirmation from the authors. There will definitely be something for everyone!

This sounds great Becke,

I can't wait to start off the new year with the authors you've picked

Oh and Anne could you maybe introduce me to your Santa I'd love a Nook for Christmas, in fact maybe I'll write a song to that effect and sing it around the house for a month.

Becke - I'm so pleased and honored to be part of the January Extravaganza!

I'm not really sure how all this works, so I'll lurk for a bit and see what goes on.

Hi G.M.! Wow, I'm thrilled that you are already signed in and able to comment. B&N is remodeling this website and some authors have had problems getting on board.

Thanks so much for mentioning DEAD AIR, Becke. It's the first in the Talk Radio Mysteries, and is coming out January 5th. I just turned in the third book in the series so now I'm back in the game and will be posting more. Very excited to hear about all the new releases and guests!! Glad to be free of deadline hell...mary kennedy  www.marykennedy.net

Hi Mary! I'm excited to feature your new book/series in the January extravaganza! A lot of people will recognize you from the board, and, like me, I think they'll be thrilled to hear about your success with this new series. Penguin has bought three books from Mary, and I'm not at all surprised -- I'm predicting this series is going to be HOT!

Mary - I am not entirely convinced deadline hell ever ends, hence the name. I look forward very much to joining you and hearing more about your books in January!

Re: We're kicking off 2010 with a January Extravaganza!

[ Edited ]

I've had requests from several authors who have new books coming out at the end of the year and would like to join our January party. I'm thinking this could be fun for our participants and the authors, too, since each author attracts their own followers as well as new ones.

So, with that in mind, I'm adding two more authors to our JANUARY EXTRAVAGANZA:

The mother-and-son writing duo that is CHARLES TODD:

The Red Door (Inspector Ian Rutledge Series #12)

And Robin Burcell:

Bone Chamber

I'm thrilled and honored to be part of this extravaganza.  Especially among such a talented group of authors!  Looking forward to the event.  (And hoping you don't mind that I am testing the waters to make sure I can actually post...)

Oh test away. I can't wait either. Looks like I'll be gaining a few new favorite authors in January. What a great New Years gift to me.
