Just got through peeking in at Janet Rudolph's Mystery Fanfare site and thought I'd share this, for all the cat lovers in our forum:

Fabulous Library Cats

I have posted bookstore cats before, but never Library Cats. Once again my favorite site, Flavorwire, has posted photos of Famous and Fabulous Library Cats. I'm posting two, but be sure and check them all out.

TLC (Top Library Cat)
TLC (Top Library Cat). This kitty lives at Broken Bow Public Library in Nebraska. The library is lucky enough to have a fireplace, where TLC camps out during the chilly winter months. Notice he's reading Lilian Jackson Braun. He likes cat books!

Sir Eli
Eli is a fluffy Ragdoll cat (with a resemblance to my own Barclay). He hangs out at  Los Robles Elementary School Library twice a week to keep watch over the kids. He's a total marshmallow, docile and tolerant of tiny hands. Eli can often be seen in the school nurse’s office comforting sick children. Owner, librarian Marily Barsaleau, also takes Sir Eli to hospitals and hospices to charm patients.

Love those pics of TLC and Sir Eli. Someday if things ever settle down with my Mom's health, I'd like to have a Ragdoll cat of my own. Marily is doing a great job with Sir Eli. I'm sure the children and patients both love him!

Re: Welcome to the Mystery Forum

That's a great interview you did, becke, and I enjoyed reading the responses from Avery/Daryl, Hank, and Rochelle.

Changing the subj. a bit--

OK, well, my brother, sis-in-law, nephew are all coming in for lunch, and my nephew is bringing his baby daughter, my grand-niece.They will be meeting my dad at the restaurant, while I fix lunch here for Mom. She just did not feel like going out, and we don't think it's safe for both of us  to leave her. I'm fixing spaghetti(gluten free noodles, in salt-free water) with spagehtti sauce. She's been eating low-fat chicken broth for breakfast. I would have enjoyed eating out, but well, SOMEONE has to be here to take care of Mom and fix her lunch, and that will be me. :smileyindifferent:

Well, poop, why do you have to stay home when everyone else goes out? Can't you feed your mom and then go out? Is there anyone else who could stay with her and give you a break?

In a word, no. My brother and sis-in-law are pretty much tied up these days themselves. My nephew, his wife, and baby are living with them for the time being, and not only did my brother and sis have to make room for the humans, my nephew and his family also brought their two dogs as well(brigning the canine population of the household to four!). They are all getting ready to help my niece and her husband move to Marana, a small town that's kind of a suburb of Tucson, this weekend. my niece is going to be studying for her PhD in Chemistry at the UofA this fall.

My best friend has her own problems with her mother, as she recently had her placed in Assisted Living, but when I was chatting with her several days ago, she wasn't very happy with the place, as her mother is calling her about ten times a day!

One of our neighbors just lost his wife to cancer, and the other family friends who might be a possibility just got back in town today after their vacation. So, no, there wasn't anyone else. The main reason I needed to stay with Mom is that we don't trust her judgment while we're gone. Her balance isn't good, and we are concerned that she will forget and try to bend over to pick something up, or try to reach for something, and overbalance. She's hefty enough that when she gets down, she's basically dead weight, and my Dad and I can't lift her without help from paramedics. Since we just got the bill from her last stay at the hospital, we don't want another one if we can prevent it. On the plus side, my mom is not really in the Alzheirmer's category, but she does have some display of dementia behaviors, so that's really why she can't be left by herself.

Anyway, today's  pity party for myself is over because my Dad brought us a Greek Salad and a Turkey Burger from the restaurant, which we'll be able to have for supper, and I did get to have a brief visit with my brother, sis-in-law, nephew, and the baby for a few minutes. Baby is beginning to teethe now, as I think they said she has two lower and it looks like a couple of upper teeth coming in. She's going to be 7 months old on Aug. 7, and is already wearing clothes, my nephew reports, for a one year old. She's almost 20 pounds, and is in the 98th % of healthy babies! Besides that, she is a beautiful baby(if I do say so as a doting Grand-Aunt!)

Three cheers for your dad! What a nice guy. Thanks for keeping us posted on your family news!

In my friends and family news, two of my other friends were due to become grandparents on my son's birthday last Sunday. Neither baby picked Jon's big day to be born, but I just got a call that one of the babies was born today! My friend's daughter had a little girl, Julia. Such a pretty name!

Glad my family tales are not boring to you! I must say I do appreciate being able to vent my feelings occasionally on this forum!

Becke, that is good news that one of your friends' granddaughter was born yesterday. I agree, Julia is a pretty name. I take it the other friend is still waiting for baby to come? That would have been nice had they come earlier, like on your son's birithday. I know I was hoping my niece would come on mine, but she came one week later to the day.

Holly, enjoy solid foods, this weekend,  while you can(Bwaaaa haaa haaa! :cattongue:)! Also, here's a tip for you: better get stocked up on some liquid forms of food that you'll be able to sip or drink while you are recovering from your wisdom teeth removal.  Ensure and Boost are good nutricious meal substitutes.

Thanks, becke! What a cute picture to get the weekend going--and, I note, a butterfly in the picture! Sweeeet!

P.S. Are you planning to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games, being held in London, on TV tonight? I haven't been very enthusiastic about watching the events, but I've been reading about the surprises in store for viewers for the opening, including maybe a cameo appearance by the Queen, and since there was mention of a reading from Shakespeare at the beginning of tonight's festivities, I think I will have to watch at least part of the program!

They were forecasting terrible storms - we had a lot of thunder and lightning and it did rain quite a bit, but we actually had worse storms earlier in the week. Thanks for checking!

they forecasted them Becke, but we haven't had rain for months now, I would even take a heavy thunder storm we need rain

Debbie - Even after so many storms this week, it's so hot the plants are still drying up as soon as the rain stops.

That is just crazy, gosh Becke I guess it's just going to go down as a record setting summer and not the good kind.

Re: Welcome to the Mystery Forum

Congrats on the new grandbabies to those that have them!

Cute cat pictures.

:smileyvery-happy:

Let's see.  I have already forgotten...Oh.  No, I don't think we'll be watching much olympics.  I was just mentioning to hubs that it started today and he nodded and kept on doing what he was doing.  He's more into sports than I am and neither of us is interested.   We both used to watch them when we were younger but steadily, they've just become something we don't watch.

It's been very hot here although not as hot as last year.  I'm trying to be grateful, but I'm a bit of a brat!

My husband is watching the opening ceremonies but I've been reading - not a mystery, but a good book:
