Flashback to when my son was a baby - yes, we're kind of a weird family, but that shouldn't surprise you!

Like Adaline, his eyes looked blue when he was born. They didn't start turning brown until he was about six months old. When I first saw Adaline, her eyes definitely looked blue, but they are already looking darker to me. I think she'll be a little brown-eyed girl!

Have you had problems from the jaundice? I always associated it with malaria and tropical diseases.

You can get jaundice from hepatitis or the blockage associated with gallstones.  The first time I had it, my doctor diagnosed hepatitis although the blood test for hepatitis was negative.  In retrospect, it may have actually been gallstones, since I think I had them for years before I knew it.  It doesn't cause any lasting problems, but it can be very unpleasant at the time, because it itches (my doctor said it was from a build-up of bilirubins in the skin).  Usually I've only had it for a few days, and it hasn't gotten so bad, but that first time I had it for a month or more, and I couldn't help scratching so much I drew blood.  Yuck!  It can also make you feel exhausted.

I think I've heard that all babies are born with blue eyes - is that true?  My brother has brown eyes, and I can't remember if they were blue as an infant, but he did have really dark red hair at first.  That only lasted a few months, and then it turned really fair blonde.  It's darkened over the years, though, so it's more light to medium brown now.  One of his sons has red hair (and it hasn't changed), and the other is very fair blonde.  My sister-in-law has brown hair.

becke, I just have to laugh when I look at the expression on your daughter's face!
Not sure if she is mugging for the camera, in order to compete for attention with baby brother, or she's singing, or just in hysterics at the idea of having to compete with a younger sibling!

Could be any - or all - of the above! She was quite a ham! (Still is, sort of...)

Cute! Love elephants! My vet daughter had an elephant on her dress when she was 3. It's still hanging in the back of her closet. She couldn't part with it!

Re: Welcome to the Mystery Forum

So, tonight Marty and I were browsing in the Barnes & Noble store at Sycamore Plaza in Cincinnati. We'd only been there a few minutes when this scary, ear-splitting siren went off.

A voice announced that a fire had been spotted in the building so we were instructed to evacuate. The universe is taking extreme measures to prevent me from buying more books! (Didn't see any smoke or flames - probably a prank.)

Becky, that's pretty funny that they had to stop you with sirens from buying books...next time, lie and tell them you're just there for coffee.  :smileyembarrassed:)

I couldn't find anything on the news, so I'm assuming it was a prank.
