Re: What are you reading right now?

Finally finished reading A Pale Horse by Charles Todd. It went a lot faster for the last few chapters.

Now I'm reading

I'm reading

Vermilion Drift (Cork O'Connor Series #10)  and I'm enjoying it as much as I've enjoyed all of Kent's previous books.

Goddess Interrupted  I'll have an author interview on Tuesday, it's shelved under YA but is a really interesting Paranormal that deals w/mythology and the Greek Gods and has held my interest through the whole novel, it's the second in her series and really should be read in order the first one was:

The Goddess Test  and then she published an ebook only novella for inbetween the two full length novels

The Goddess Hunt

I'm very intrigued by this series!

I met him at Magna Cum Murder a few years ago. I've got a bunch of his books in my horribly large TBR pile.

I love the Op!  As I said before, I'm on my second book of short stories (The Big Knockover), and thoroughly enjoying it.  I read Red Harvest many years ago, but don't remember anything about it, as well as his other novel (I think it's The Dain Curse).  I was looking through my Hammett to see what's next, and in the anthology Great Detectives, there are the 'Sam Spade stories', all three short stories featuring Spade (his only novel was The Maltese Falcon, which I also have, but I don't know if I'll get to it, but I've read it before and of course am very familiar with the movie, which I saw again fairly recently).  It will be nice to see how the stories stack up against the Continental Op stories.

I read pretty much everything he wrote back in the day, when I was on a Hammett kick. I'm rereading THE CONTINENTAL OP right now.

Re: What are you reading right now?

[ Edited ]

Well it was a busy weekend at the Haupt household, I cleaned the outside of all my windows (my aching arms) and read

Claude & Camille  our April feature at General Fiction, reviewed it did all the discussion questions and it's ready to go. If you've always wanted to know more about Monet, his life and his love and muse Camille join us.

Right now I'm halfway through Eloisa James' memoir

Paris in Love   now I'm a big fan of her romances, love those heroines of hers and this non-ficition about she and her family's year in Paris is so touching, poignant and real. It's a must read for everyone who loves to laugh, especially those who have kids, talk about culture shock OOh La La

I preorded Eloisa's book awhile ago - I can hardly wait to read it!

Well, I'm a bit disappointed. Marty and I watched the movie TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY last night, and I was, to say the least, underwhelmed. The acting was great but the editing was incredibly confusing. The scenes were really short and choppy - so fast you could barely figure out what just happened - and the scenes jumped back in forth in time and place so it was nearly impossible to tell what was going on.

And there were a bunch of recurring scenes that still make no sense at all to me - I don't know what the point of them was, and that frustrates me. My husband said, "Well that's two hours of my life I won't get back." I found it interesting enough to watch it to the end (my husband would have turned it off after 15 minutes) but I sure won't watch it again.

My husband and I felt the same way. We looked at each other in the movie theater as the credits rolled and he said, "That movie looks like it would be a really good book." LOL

Speaking of hot book covers, have any of you read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward? It's been recommended to me by a reading friend I trust. TOTALLY off-board topic, but hey, we've been there before. LOL

I'm reading

The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles Series #1) on my nook and I finished

Elephants Can Remember . I don't know yet for sure what's up next. Perhaps a return to

A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire #3)  in which case, I'll be off-board for a while since it'll take me a while to get it done.

I've read all J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood books. And if you like those, you may also like Kresley Cole's vampires. Both are pretty hot series, BTW.

Re: What are you reading right now?

That book, Fat is the New 30, does look like it'd be a fun read! Plus if that were only true, I'd cut  my age in half,  ha ha! :catwink:

Just finished reading:

See Inside

A Long Shadow (Inspector Ian Rutledge Series #8)

Need a NOOK?

Obviously, I have not been reading the books in this series in order. This book introduces Ian to Meredith Channing, and I was a bit surprised to find how terrified both Ian and Hamish were of her, at first. Loved the ending scene, though, when Meredith says to Ian, " Don't marry that girl in Westmoreland, Ian. She's been through enough. Neither of you would be happy for very long." She put the  motorcar in gear and left him standing there staring after her. Hamish, the first to recover, said, " Ye didna tell her about Westmoreland."

Take that, Ian and Hamish!!!!! I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series now!
