Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. On May 1, we’re saying goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

I'll ask Janet if she can join us - great idea! Did I forget to list Jenn McKinlay and Kate Carlisle's books? I'll fix that right now. Kate hasn't visited in awhile, either. I need to ask them all to join us!

The week of June 17 we have three cozy authors visiting us at the same time - Julie Hyzy, Lorraine Bartlett and Hannah Reed. That's going to be fun!!

Going, Going, Ganache (Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series #5)

A Cookbook Conspiracy

Fonduing Fathers (White House Chef Mystery Series #6)

One Hot Murder (Victoria Square Series)

Beeline to Trouble

Great line-up, becke! I. can.hardly.wait!!!!!

Re: What's New and Coming Soon!

Ivy Pochoda’s VISITATION STREET (Ecco/Dennis Lehane Books; 7/9/13), the 2nd title published in Dennis Lehane’s line of books, has received THREE STARRED pre-pub reviews:

“It’s easy to see why [Dennis Lehane] is throwing his significant weight behind [Pochoda’s] work. Set in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, the novel opens on a warm summer evening when 15-year-old Val and June push a small pink raft onto the bay and set sail.  Only Val makes it back to shore, and the resulting drama unspools as readers meet a full cast of utterly believable characters… It’s an opera set in one small community, and as Val struggles to cope with the loss of her friend and the neighborhood characters play their parts, large and small, Pochoda’s riveting prose will keep readers enthralled until the final page. Verdict: The prose is so lyrical and detailed that readers will easily imagine themselves in Red Hook.  A great read for those who enjoy urban mysteries and thrillers with a literary flair.” – Library Journal (STARRED REVIEW)

“Exquisitely written, Pochoda’s poignant second novel examines how residents of Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood deal with grief, urban development, loss, and teenage angst. … Pochoda couples a raw-edged, lyrical look at characters’ innermost fears with an evocative view of Red Hook.” – Publishers Weekly (STARRED REVIEW)

“The book is rich with characters and mood and will make readers feel like they’ve walked the streets of Red Hook. Everyone in the story deserves a measure of sympathy, from the girls on the raft to the shoplifting teenager to the pathetic uncle who won’t tell anyone anything for free. Red Hook itself feels like a character—hard-worn, isolated from the rest of New York, left behind and forgotten. A terrific story in the vein of Dennis Lehane's fiction.” – Kirkus(STARRED REVIEW)

The Badlands

Today The Badlands, a Penguin Special by Paul French goes on sale. This Special goes deeper into a seedy neighborhood featured in the bestselling, Edgar Award-winning, Midnight in Peking (newly out in paperback). In the 1920s and 30s, the Badlands of Peking was populated by prositutes, transvestites, and others running from past lives. It was a stark contrast its neighbor, the Legation Quarter where diplomats and other expats resided.

Readers from around the world contacted French after reading Midnight in Peking with stories of ancestors who had lived in Peking at that time. Combined with his own research, The Badlands is a compelling companion to an amazing story of China's colonial past.
