Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

I am going to set my DVR for Hawaii Five 0 too because I used to watch the earlier shows. I get involved with reading my books that I hate to stop and watch tv, so I have to tape everything and watch it between books. I like Castle too but I guess i'll have to rent the series or DVR it also. Too many good books and too many good tv shows. Can't do it all!

How about the Ellery Queen series (showing my gray hairs again). Murder She Wrote, the ORIGINAL Hawaii 5-0 (new one is good too), and I did catch the new Kathy Bates series (pretty good)..all CSI's, and Bones.  But all life can't be so serious...how about Big Bang Theory for dessert.

Eadieburke, Castle is definitely worth a look. The books by Richard Castle are good too. Check out Nikki Heat in Naked Heat and Heat Wave. I totally forgot about the show Rizolli and Isles Monday nights on TNT. These are based on Tess Gerristen's books. (which are awesome)

I love Rizolli and Isles too.  I also love White Colar.  Leverage is also fun.

Re: What's your favorite detective/mystery TV show?

After all the praise here, I sampled a couple of episodes of Hawaii 5-0 on On Demand last night, and I did enjoy them!  I never watched the original series.  I'm not sure when this one is on the schedule, and it may not fit into my own schedule, but now I know I can catch up On Demand, and I will probably watch more.  I was looking for Castle, but that isn't available On Demand.

Dulcinea - check out Rizzoli & Isles if you can get it on demand. That's a REALLY good series, based on Tess Gerritson's books!

Have to give a shout out to Southland. I love a good cop show, and this one is really terrific. Young cop ( or "boot") paired with older cop on patrol, mix of detectives, lots of interesting cases. Keeps me glued to the screen every week.

I've seen one or two episodes of that one and it was good.

What about the old shows - I used to be hooked on LA Law, Hill Street Blues, Starsky & Hutch...yeah, I've just dated myself.

I loved Persons Unknown and Harpers Island.

I just remembered some more recent, limited-run series that are more mysteries than detective shows, I think.  This past year there was Persons Unknown, with a group of people trapped in a town for reasons unknown, and a couple of years ago there was Harper's Island, with members of a wedding party getting killed off one by one.  Even Lost was a kind of mystery series.

Oh, and the Lee Horsley series I couldn't remember the name of was Matt Houston.

The only problem with Persons Unknown is that the producers promised that all the questions would be answered.  Lost had just ended, and they knew that some were not satisfied with the wrap-up.  However, hardly anything was answered, and the finale was very open-ended.  It almost seemed that they were setting up for a second season, but it was said all along that it was a one-season show.  Other than that, though, it was a fascinating show!  At least on Harper's Island we finally found the answers.

I also had forgotten Medium.  I've really enjoyed that show, and it had its series finale on Friday.  I'll miss it - there's usually not much on on Fridays.

Ryan my husband and i loved both of these mini series. They were perfect for the summer months. I read Stephen King's book which Harper's Island is based on. It was weird, but I loved the series.

Wow, I had no idea that Harper's Island was based on a Stephen King book!
