Oh my gosh, I have that candy striper book! I LOVED it - I still have it, too.

If you get a chance you should visit Chincoteague Island for the pony swim. It takes place on the last Wednesday in July every year. My friend and I have gone for the past few years. We really enjoy it. We hire a boat and sit in the bay as the ponies swim from Assateague Island, VA to Chincoteague Island, VA. Then the ponies run down the main street of the town. The firemen have a carnival that same week and they auction off some of the ponies and the ones that do not get auctioned swim back on Friday. Very interesting and Chincoteague is a very artsy place with lots of neat stores. Marguerite Henry visited there before she wrote her Misty book. They also have a Misty Museum. Nice place to go for a family vacation!

Hi Eadie! I went to Assateague years ago. My father had to go to Maryland on business, and since we had a big family and didn't go on many vacation, my parents packed us all in the station wagon and we drove there. My younger sister was in love with MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE and begged to go there, so we ended up touring that whole area. It was beautiful there!

It sounds like a fun place - I hope I can get there for a visit one of these days.
