B&N isn't necessarily price matching. Books published by major publishers have the pricing set by the publisher. It's the same everywhere.

Either way, they are offering the same lowered price each day. It's a shame they aren't promoting it in some way.

It hasn't been on every book. I've checked B&N on several of the books offered in the Kindle deal and have not found every price reduced.

It won't be on every book. It depends on the publisher. Amazon or B&N can price independent publishers any way they want to.

B&N is matching price on today's Kindle daily deal -- a great book for only $1.99 (today only):
Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain
Last summer, The New Yorker published Chef Bourdain's shocking, "Don't Eat Before Reading This". Bourdain spared no one's appetite when he told all about what happens behind the kitchen door. Bourdain uses the same "take-no-prisoners" attitude in his deliciously funny and shockingly delectable book, sure to delight gourmands and philistines alike. From Bourdain's first oyster in the Gironde, to his lowly position as dishwasher in a honky--tonk fish restaurant in Provincetown (where he witnesses for the first time the real delights of being a chef); from the kitchen of the Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center, to drug dealers in the East Village, from Tokyo to Paris and back to New York again, Bourdain's tales of the kitchen are as passionate as they are unpredictable. Kitchen Confidential will make your mouth water while your belly aches with laughter. You'll beg the chef for more, please.
Annotation
New York Chef Tony Bourdain gives away secrets of the trade in his wickedly funny, inspiring memoir/expose. Kitchen Confidential reveals what Bourdain calls "twenty-five years of sex, drugs, bad behavior and haute cuisine."

Pocket Books -- a division of Simon & Schuster -- is offering a whole slew of dark romance titles for $3.99 each (along with a few other fantasy fiction and Star Trek novels):

Also of note, a great historical fiction classic from Umberto Eco for $3.19:
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 1994)
A spectacular best seller and now a classic, The Name of the Rose catapulted Umberto Eco, an Italian professor of semiotics turned novelist, to international prominence. An erudite murder mystery set in a fourteenth-century monastery, it is not only a gripping story but also a brilliant exploration of medieval philosophy, history, theology, and logic.
In 1327, Brother William of Baskerville is sent to investigate a wealthy Italian abbey whose monks are suspected of heresy. When his mission is overshadowed by seven bizarre deaths patterned on the book of Revelation, Brother William turns detective, following the trail of a conspiracy that brings him face-to-face with the abbey’s labyrinthine secrets, the subversive effects of laughter, and the medieval Inquisition. Caught in a power struggle between the emperor he serves and the pope who rules the Church, Brother William comes to see that what is at stake is larger than any mere political dispute–that his investigation is being blocked by those who fear imagination, curiosity, and the power of ideas.
The Name of the Rose offers the reader not only an ingeniously constructed mystery—complete with secret symbols and coded manuscripts—but also an unparalleled portrait of the medieval world on the brink of profound transformation.
Annotation
In seven days of apocalyptic terror, a killer strikes seven times--and seven monks die. The year is 1327. The place is a wealthy abbey in Italy. And the crimes committed there are beyond the wildest imaginings. It will be the task of English Brother William of Baskerville to decipher secret symbols and dig into the eerie labyrinth of abbey life to solve the mystery. Also a major motion picture starring Sean Connery and F. Murray Abram.

@KirstyHaining:
Thanks for posting about Eco! I've had this on my wishlist for awhile, but didn't expect a sale anytime soon. In fact the price had recently gone up. Maybe they'll do some sales on his other titles as the release of his new book approaches. (I have him all in hardcover, but would also like the e-books eventually. One of the few I'm still willing to duplicate without liquidating the DTB.)

Dr. Renee Carter jokes that she was raised by a hotel maid and a television. It's not far from the truth. Most of her childhood was spent following her father from city to city as he played poker in back-alley bars, illegal card rooms and casinos. Those years observing her father, while hard, drilled lessons into her that she's never forgotten: always be observant, always be wary, and always watch your opponent.
Now an adult, Renee is a math professor at a prestigious liberal arts college in rural Ohio. While investigating a database she wasn't supposed to have, she and a colleague discover something that no one was supposed to find. Two weeks later, Renee finds her colleague murdered in his office. Not knowing whom she can trust, she runs. Aided by a detective with an agenda that may not mirror her own, Renee knows that her only chance of survival is to utilize every skill her father taught her and unravel a conspiracy that reaches across international lines and deep into the halls of American power.
Note to Ash Rashid fans: Just Run is a stand-alone thriller. The next Ash novel is still being written.
