For your consideration: SF novel 'Pavonis' available as NOOKBook

My SF novel Pavonis is now available for Nook. You can get it here...

...or just search for the title in the Nook Books.

For some reason the summary blurb isn't showing, but here it is:

After a friend dies in suspicious circumstances, John Vaux finds himself torn from his quiet life and thrown into an adventure that carries him across the huge planet Pavonis in search of an ancient artifact that will change the world. As Vaux travels tens of thousands of kilometres following clues to the location of the artifact he's pursued for a murder he didn't commit, chased by fanatics who will destroy the artifact to protect the status quo and kill anyone who gets in their way, attacked by a 'dragon', robbed, gassed, captured, freed, and shot at. He rides (and crashes) monowheels, stows away on land trains and sea trains, steals (and crashes) a dragonfly, flies aboard a personal skyhouse and sneaks in and out of a city in a meteor crater through the sewers. Twice.

I've had feedback from one reader (he said he couldn't put it down, he's reading it again, and he wants me to write a sequel) but I'd really appreciate getting a least a couple of reader reviews on there so that I can get a more balanced feeling of how people like it. Enjoy!

Re: For your consideration: SF novel 'Pavonis' available as NOOKBook

The blurb didn't grab me. But I've downloaded the sample, so we'll see.

I laureled your post because too often, and recently, authors come on the boards and promote their book the wrong way. Their enthusiasm and ambition causes them to splatter duplicate posts across the boards and shamelessly talk up their own writing "talents"---I'm a great writer so you must read this book.

You hit the right tone here: promotional, informational, a direct appeal, but not in your face.

That's why I'm giving you a chance when I have literally 1000s of unread books in the to-be-read queue and dozens more on my wishlist.

Hopefully more authors will learn from the example.

Good luck with your endeavors!

To those that have read (or are reading) Pavonis: I'd really appreciate honest reviews. If you liked it, that's great; if not, why not. Thanks!

I really enjoyed the book and the world you built.  I hope to see more from you in the future.

Thank you! I'm working on a new project (not a sequel, something different) and I expect it to be available here around October-time.

Bought it.  Read it.  Liked it.  Awarded it 4 Stars.

A few inconsistencies, and a few editing errors.  Most loose ends neatly tied up, and I will certainly read the sequel,  The world the author has created is, largely, believable and interesting.  An entertaining read with the right balance of action and analysis.

I'm glad to hear you liked it, and thank you for the review. As for a sequel, well, I'm being given more and more reasons to write one after my current writing project, so I'm giving it some serious thought.

Re: For your consideration: SF novel 'Pavonis' available as NOOKBook

:smileyvery-happy: It seems like we're forcing you into a sequel.

I should clarify my comment though.  I enjoyed the world as well as the characters and just wanted you to know that if you had other ideas for that world, even with different characters or time period, there are people interested in reading it.  I wouldn't want you to write something you don't feel though.

I will look for your next offering, even on a different subject, because I enjoyed this one.
