Overview
In New York City, Nights Are Dangerous. Days Are Numbered.
When New York University sophomore Megan Gunther finds personal threats posted to a Web site specializing in campus gossip, she's taken aback by their menacing tone. Someone knows her daily routine down to the minute and is watching her—but thanks to the anonymity provided by the Internet, the police tell her there's nothing they can do. Her friends are sure it's someone's idea of a joke, but when Megan is murdered in a vicious attack, NYPD Detective Ellie Hatcher is convinced that the online threats are more than just empty words.
With smooth, straight-talking partner J. J. Rogan at her side, Ellie tries to identify Megan's enemies, but she begins to wonder if the coed's murder was more than just the culmination of a cyber obsession. Phone records reveal a link between Megan and a murdered real estate agent who was living a dangerous double life. The detectives also learn that the dead real estate agent shared a secret connection to a celebrity mogul whose bodyguard was mysteriously killed a few months earlier. And when Megan's roommate suddenly disappears, they know they have to find her before another young woman dies.

From Cheap e-Reads on Facebook
I think the second book is a repeat.
Publisher: Pearson Education
3 remarkable books reveal the latest scientific discoveries about addiction, antibiotic-resistant disease, bacteria – and you
These three remarkable books take you to the cutting edge of health science, revealing today’s most powerful scientific discoveries about addiction, antibiotic-resistant disease, and bacteria. In The Addicted Brain, leading neuroscientist Michael Kuhar, Ph.D. explains how and why addiction destroys lives, and presents the latest advances in treatment and prevention. Using breathtaking brain imagery and other research, Kuhar reveals the powerful, long-term brain changes that drugs can cause, explaining why it can be so difficult for addicts to escape them. He describes why some people are unusually susceptible to addiction; illuminates striking neural similarities between drugs and pleasures ranging from alcohol and gambling to sex and caffeine; and outlines the 12 characteristics most often associated with successful treatment. Next, in Antibiotic Resistance: Understanding and Responding to an Emerging Crisis, Karl S. Drlica and David S. Perlin presents a thorough and authoritative overview of the growing resistance of pathogenic bacteria to antibiotics, and what this means to our ability to control and treat infectious diseases. The authors answer crucial questions such as: What is resistance? How does it emerge? How do common human activities contribute to resistance? What can we do about it? Are there better ways to discover new antibiotics? How can we strengthen our defenses against resistance, minimize public health risks and extend the effectiveness of the antibiotics we have? Finally, in Allies and Enemies, Anne Maczulak tells the story of the amazing, intimate partnership between humans and bacteria. Offering a powerful new perspective on Earth’s oldest creatures, Maczulak explains how bacteria work, how they evolve, their surprising contributions and uses, the roles they’ve played in human history — and why you can't survive without them.
From pioneering scientists and researchers including Michael Kuhar, Karl S. Drlica, David S. Perlin, and Anne Maczulak

Secondhand Jesus
by Glenn Packiam
ISBN-13: 9781434700322
Publisher: Cook, David C.
Publication date: 1/1/2010
God has offered us firsthand knowledge of His love, His grace, and His power. Yet so often, we too
easily settle for someone else's descriptions, the Cliff notes from another's spiritual journey. We are content for "God-experts" to do the heavy lifting and then give us the bottom line. And like any secondhand information, after enough times through the grapevine, the truth about God deteriorates and crumbs of rumor are all that remain.
But when life derails, and things don't go as we had planned, our thin view of God is challenged. In those critical moments, we can choose to walk away from God, or to let our questions lead us home. When we choose to wrestle with God, to engage Him for ourselves, we-like Jacob and Job and David-will see rumors die and revelation come alive.
It's time to hear the magnificent, Divine Invitation. It's time to take God up on His offer and embrace the mystery and majesty of knowing Him for ourselves.

Disrupt: Think the Unthinkable to Spark Transformation in Your Business
by Luke Williams
ISBN-13: 9780132612050
Publisher: Pearson Education
Publication date: 12/22/2010
For more and more companies in a world that's changing fast, there’s only one way to win the game: transform it entirely. For anyone who wants to thrive in this new order, this requires a revolution in thinking--a steady stream of disruptive strategies, and unexpected solutions. Disrupt shows how to generate and execute those solutions--a disruptive approach for a disruptive age.
Disrupt reflects Luke Williams’ immense experience creating disruptive products and services at frog design, one of the world’s leading innovation firms. Williams combines the fluid creativity of "disruptive thinking" with the analytical rigor that is indispensable to business success. The result is a simple yet complete, five-stage process for imagining a powerful market disruption and transforming it into reality.
Using many examples and book-length case study of Little Miss Matched, Williams shows how the more unexpected an idea, the smaller the number of competitors, and the more successful the company that brings it to market. He walks through generating a disruptive hypothesis, defining a disruptive market opportunity, creating multiple disruptive ideas, shaping them into an actionable solution, and persuading key stakeholders to adopt or invest in the solution.
Disrupt offers readers a systematic way to redefine the future of a company, catch entire industries by surprise, and leave competitors scrambling to catch up.

Overview
Sourcebooks Landmark proudly reintroduces this classic historical novel.
Karleen Koen's sweeping saga contains unforgettable characters consumed with passion: the extraordinarily beautiful fifteen-year-old noblewoman, Barbara Alderley; the man she adores, the wickedly handsome Roger MontGeoffry; her grandmother, the duchess, who rules the family with cunning and wit; and her mother, the ineffably cruel, self-centered and licentious Diana. Like no other work, Through a Glass Darkly is infused with intrigue, sweetened by romance and awash in the black ink of betrayal.

Five years ago, Cain Veuxfort, Earl of Hawksdown, followed duty and broke Amice de Monceaux's heart. But now he needs her. Desperately. For Amice has a very special talent. She is a Spirit Goddess, able to help restless souls move on. And Cain has a very restless ghost he wishes fervently would leave his castle. Anxious to regain order in his chaotic life, Cain offers Amice the one thing he's sure she can't resist; an Italian villa on the sea in exchange for her unique services. Although Amice's wound is deep, and as fresh and painful as ever, she agrees to help her former lover. Life on the Italian coast will be the start of a new life for her. Perhaps then she will finally be able to put the past behind her as well as an importunate Highland lord who wants nothing less that her hand in marriage. But there is more going on at Castle Falcon's Craig than a simple haunting, and more than one tragic tale of unrequited love. Yet to set things right, for both the living and the dead, Cain must find the courage to shed his mask of indifference, Amice must move beyond her pain to forgive, and long dead, star-crossed lovers must lead them all on the path to a lost touch of bliss.

Abandoned at birth on the shores of a sacred loch, Bryna never knew her family or true heritage. She exists as a slave in the fortress of a Roman invader, her only friend an ancient, blind Druidess, Derina. Her life is bleak and without hope. And then Derina tells her she must rescue the prisoner in the dungeon. Tynan lies naked, chained to a cold, stone slab, both body and mind tortured by the Sorcerer, evil ally of the Roman lord. The Sorcerer's purpose? To discover if this one, at last, might by the Dark Chieftain, the fulfiller of prophecy. Even deeper in the dungeon, trapped by magical enchantment, are the faeries. They await their liberator, the one who has been prophesied. And the Dark Chieftain awaits a destiny of his own—mating with the territorial goddess—a union that will set the land, and many lives, aright. First, however, he must gain his freedom and find her. And Bryna is on her way to the dungeon.

From Casting Pearls on Facebook:
Publisher: Cook, David C.
God has offered us firsthand knowledge of His love, His grace, and His power. Yet so often, we too easily settle for someone else's descriptions, the Cliff notes from another's spiritual journey.
