Hello all!
What do we all think about Michael Young????
I'm enjoying the heck out of being in Halo country right now, all I hear on the radio is "What do we have to do to beat the Rangers?" ![]()

There's an apocryphal story about a coach (I don't even know what sport) who said, "We'd have won the game if we'd only scored more points than the other team."
So there's the answer. Get more runs than the Rangers.

LOL And in the end, that is the ONLY correct answer!

We were watching football with the kids a couple months ago. During halftime one of the announcers asked, " So, what do the Eagles have to do to win this game?" To which my 6 year old daughter piped up with, " Score more points! Duh!" ![]()

Young is one of the most underrated hitters in the game. Since the start of 2003, only Ichiro has more hits (1,794 for Ichiro, 1,602 for Young). Jeter is third, Pujols is fourth.

Woooooooooooo hooooooooooo! I'm up now and ready for action.![]()
As for Michael Young, as much as I like the guy I think Randy Galloway had it right in his article a couple of weeks ago, "Shut up and play!" I'm sure he has a valid reason for feeling the way he does but after the drama of last year's buyout, I'm burned out on drama. However, to reinforce just what a classy guy he is, he entered spring training saying he's there for his team and doesn't want to be a distraction.
Anything could happen in the AL west this year. Oakland is beefing up their hitting, Seattle is making coffee, and the Halos seem determined to whoop up on the Rangers this year. We'll see how it all pans out soon. How soon you ask? Well, I'll tell ya:

Greetings to you all. I feel like we are at Cheers and everyone just saluted the return of this thread with resounding "Frrrrrooooogggg!!!!" Of course, considering the hour and the fact that I am at work, I just raised a hot tea rather than a frosty mug. But, hey....the thought is the same ![]()

Feels good, huh.
The Rangers are going to play Round Rock Express (now affiliated with the Rangers) on March 30th down in Round Rock. The wife and I are going to try to attend the game.

Ok. I've seen the Sports Bar part of this thread (which I won't partake in since I have no interest in team sports) but where's the e-book part of it? Inquiring minds want to know... ![]()

Oh, somebody will bring up a book eventually -- feel free, Alan. Double points if it's a book about baseball. ![]()

Here you go:
One for newbies who want to know more about how the game is played and the strategies used. It answers question like, "Why did he throw the ball to second when there's a man running to third?"

Here is the baseball book that I am currently enjoying. It isn't available for the nook, though.
Baseball's Greatest Quotations
In honor of the Rangers, here is a quote by Reggie Jackson about Nolan Ryan. It appeared in Newsweek in June 1975.
"Every hitter likes fastballs, just like everybody likes ice cream. But you don't like it when someone's stuffing it into you by the gallon. That's how you feel when Ryan's throwing balls by you. You just hope to mix in a walk so you can have a good night and only go 0-for-3."

Last year Frog took her Nook to a baseball game, some ladies near her got in a cat fight, and thus the e-book bar and grill evolved.

Ahh, thank you for that. I was active here when I first got my Nook and then I kind of slowed down here for some reason (can't recall now but probably work-related) so I missed out on some things.

Please don't say "breaking it all up" in the same thread that talks about bringing your Nook to a baseball game... That thought is too scary... ![]()

I had forgotten about the fight in front of Frog last year. That was something else. But when I think of Frog I think of her fashionista dog, TInk. That was a hoot.
We're going to be able to see some other teams play this year. We subscribed to MLB tv through our blue ray player. Rangers and Astros are blacked out for us but we get those through FSSW anyhow.

Interesting technology you have down there in Texas! Did you subscribe to the NBA through your toaster while you were at it? ![]()
