Not needing a light would defeat the very feature that makes this a better reader (along with kindle, sony ereader etc).  the eInk is what makes me want this vs a tablet or ipad, easier on the eyes and can read outside.

no idea what #2 is supposed to be

You want a NOOKColor then.  This feature is available on it.

It is easy on the eyes and I am enjoying mine beyond my expectations.
