The second books for Ashes is comingout this summer.  I believe this is going to be a trilogy.  It is YA but I really enjoyed it.

By the way, another good series (if a bit off the wall) are the Hap and Leonard books by Joe Lansdale.  Once again, read them in order as they have recurring characters.

One of my all-time favorite series is Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. The first book was published in 1983, and many have been bestsellers, especially in the U.K.

You can find a quick description of the series and a list of all the books to date in this Wikipedia article.

In a nutshell, it's a humorous, satirical fantasy set in a consistent alternate world with recurring characters who sometimes drift in and out from book to book. There's serious action and nail-biting situations, but at the same time the narrative can become laugh-out-loud funny at the drop of a hat. It's full of puns and sly parallels between Discworld and our world.

Reading for entertainment at its best.

How about the Wizard of Oz series? :smileyhappy: We've published the first 5 so far, and the 6th is on the way. Yes, you can get them for free in some places, but our versions have all the original illustrations.

My wife and I both really enjoy The Kingkiller Chronicles. The first book is

The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles Series #1)

Basically, the innkeeper Kote is a notorious assassin and is trying to lay low and make a new life for himself when a traveling author figures out who he is and pries the story out of him. The first book unfolds over the course of the first night as he retells his story from its beginning while cutting to the inkeeper's "present" as he avoids those who still hunt him.

It's a medieval fantasy setting but is very accessable and not high fantasy like Lord of the Rings. It has an interesting twist on magic that has more to do with understanding the physical world and isn't just classic mysticism.

Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series is worth reading as is her Mayfair Witches series. I have not read her new vampire series yet. Stephen King's Dark Tower series is also excellent.
