Thanks Doug for the tip...I managed to get it for free by clicking on the Get Free ebook button in the actual quick view box. Couldn't find any page where it was listed for free.

It's charging 9.99   I called customer service and they removed book from my library and refunded the charge.  Advice--download it again in a few days..........sigh!

NOT FREE.  Don't click on the link that says free ebook.  It automatically buys it and charges it. It doesn't even ask to confirm!

Be careful when downloading.  I thought I was downloading the free book, but when the confirmation came through it said $9.99.  Called customer service.  The young lady who helped me was terrific.  I got a credit. 

I asked her why this happened. She looked into it and if you want the free download nookbook it is not the same as the $9.99 version - different isbn numbers.  She said that it is up to the publisher if you get the whole book, if something is missing or it is just a sample.  Sometimes it is the whole book, sometimes not.  If you go to  nookbooks and enter Spinning Forward, you will get a listing for this title.  If you click on the one that says download now, you will get the free book.  Don't know if it is missing a portion of the book or not. 

Not complaining about how much book you get - free is free - but there should be some indication from the publisher as to whether it is a full book or not.

It looked like it was free hovering over it, but check your account.  Mine was billed!

I clicked on the book when it definitely was listed 0.00 and was charged.  When I called Customer Service the gentlemen argued with me that it was never free and they would give me a refund as a "one time courtesy."  He said it would take about a week for the refund.

I just had the same issue - book is listed as $0.00 but I was charged $9.99 (no confirmation). I was on the phone with customer service for more than 20 minutes. They can't see the free offer. Anyway, they are refunding my money and I get to keep the book. She said 2-3 days for the refund.

I am currently on hold with B&N, obviously the agent doesn't know what she is doing. She first told me that I must have seen the "try if free now." I explained that "no, I am looking at the page now that says FREE." After offering to send her the url and a screen shot, she went to go talk to someone else. I am getting a refund, but I had to work at it!

The rep told me that it was likely an ebook that was once free but is no longer. But this was the rep who got "download now" and "try a free sample" mixed up, so who knows.

The damn book clearly states 0.00, yet you get charged for it.

I spoke to David in CS, who was very nice. I'll get a credit on my charge. It was coming up free for him on a Nook, but costing $9.99 on the website. He said he'll report the glitch. I told him that it's on the message boards.

It's actually listed with both prices on the web site.  I am expecting a refund as well after calling CS.

I also downloaded from the page that said $0.00 but was charged $9.99. I called customer service and of course, she couldn't see what I saw. She said the book was $9.99 but the sample was $0.00. She asked if I had downloaded the book yet from the confirmation email, and I hadn't, so she said she would refund my money but to delete the confirmation email right away. She said if I downloaded the book, I would be charged.

Now, my problem. I deleted the email like she said (after I made a copy) and I didn't download the book HOWEVER when I turned on my NOOK, there it was! It is also listed under MY B&N!

I'm going to take the copy of the confirmation email, the copy of the page showing it was $0.00, a copy of this blog and my NOOK to the store tomorrow.

 and see what they will do.

I got a charge for this "free" book, too. I know it was $0.00 when I clicked it. I didn't see the e-mail until later. I'm sure the nook has already downloaded the "free" books without my say so. I sent an e-mail to customer service, and I'll see if that works.

I will definitely send customer service a link to this discussion.

Edited to Add: I also called customer service and got a faster response.

I spoke w/ the local store manager today. I brought in this blog, my receipt and a screen capture showing the book was free, and the name of the person I spoke with at Customer Service. Whoever he spoke to at Customer Service told him that it had been taken care of on their end and that it would show as "removed" on both my NOOK and MY B&N by Monday and my Visa would be credited at that time as well.

By the way...I thought it very interesting that as a store manager, he knew nothing about the blogs and bookclubs on the B&N site...

I downloaded it and it the "Download Now" button said it was free. I just checked my email and the receipt show I was charged "0.00"

So it looks like they fixed the issue.

I just downloaded it and it worked for me too.  It didn't charge me.
