I'm with you javabird, I don't like it either! If they were going to go through that much trouble, I wish they had made it so we could have bookshelves. I would love to organize my bookshelf!
I don't like that we can't sort author and title a-z and z-a, now it's just recent, author & title. I don't see where the book club section is either and no more "following" it seems. I can't get it to load in google chrome, is anyone else having trouble with that? My avatar is gone and I don't see where we can change it. I'm not keen on it showing real names either under friends.
How do the rest of you feel about it? What changes have you noticed?

Quite honestly I think you would get more responses making this comment into a new thread on the Nook General board. It's buried here.

@ AlanNJ,
Thanks for your input and suggestion, but I posted this question here because I wanted to find out from our group of friends on the "Free Nook Book Summary Thread" what they thought about the new changes.

Hi,
I was curious to know if anyone was charged for the "free" book "Sensei"? Or is it truely a free book. I wanted to know if I should put it on the "limited list" or leave it off.

Charging for free ebooks is not uncommon at b&n. I still have outstanding $8 for free ebook that I have to call them for 3rd time now...

Pinky,
I downloaded Sensei and it was indeed free. Both the "Thank you for your order" page and the email I received showed $0.00.

I didn't get charged for anything recently. From past experience I think this is not happening for any specific ebook. Also B&N knows about it. Perhaps fixing it is not on their priority list, or perhaps they know that not everyone is willing to be on the phone with them for 40 minutes to straighten out 99 cent charge, or 1.99, or 2.99 depending on how the person values their time...

All that effort to pretty up a page that desperately needs the one thing they seem incapable of adding: a search feature. I don't care how I try to sort, I can't find a book without clicking for page after page to narrow it down by alphabet.
It's worse when you can't quite remember the name, but remember one of the words in the title...

These books have been free at Amazon since Monday:
Social Media Marketing with Established Technologies (Collection) by Clara Shih, Jamie Turner and R. Scott Corbett
Let's Get Real About Money: Profit from the Habits of the Best Personal Finance Managers by Eric Tyson
Making Sense of People: Decoding the Mysteries of Personality by Samuel Barondes
A Beginner's Guide to Using Your iPhone as a Business Productivity Tool by Dave Caolo
Normally, these Pearson/FT Press titles show up as free at Amazon's European sites late on Sunday, and then become free at Amazon.com and B&N early Monday morning, but so far this week, they're only free at Amazon. I wish there was a reliable way to ask someone at B&N to check on the price of ebooks with the publisher.

How do I make a new thread off of "Browse Book Clubs", "B&N Support"? I want to make a new Board.
Nevermind, I think I figured it out. Anyway, it's good enough. I wanted to post the changes that have been made to our B&N accounts and list some of the items they seem to be working. I wrote a letter to the corporate office and they seem to be addressing some of the issues.
Here is the link if anyone want to read it:
B&N Development Team - The new changes are HORRIBLE
Feel free to chime in!

It doesn't look like we will be getting these book this month, maybe we will get them tomorrow when the new month starts. I'll keep my eyes open for them.

Is anyone else having trouble staying signed in? I keep getting kicked out and then have to sign back in, go to My B&N and then back to blog. Think they are trying to tell me something?
What are they doing to us now
I guess they have never heard the phrase "if it isn't broken, don't fix it!

Yes! I'm also having trouble getting signed in. 5 minutes ago I tried to go to My B&N and got an error message that the page couldn't be found/displayed! ![]()

I'm having the same problem.
I've seen this happen before with "redesigns." The website gets a facelift and loses functionality. I don't understand why a major redesign like this doesn't get a least beta-tested with real users before releasing to the public.
When Blockbuster did this a couple years ago, the CSS they used caused the site to completely break in Safari and the then-current version of Firefox for Macs. I sent multiple complaints and emails which resulted in canned email replies (they had NO customer service phone number at that time) and I even gave a list of issues with the site to my local store manager who was very nice and passed the information on to corporate. I don't really know if they ever fixed it because since I couldn't use the site without a great deal of frustration, I finally just gave up after a few months of fighitng with it and cancelled my membership. Another website recently did a redesign which resulted in about 5 extra clicks to buy a product, among other things. Complants to customer service again just resulted in canned responses. Eventually it was just easier to take my business elsewhere.

To be picky, Theresa Weir is the author's name and Anne Frasier is the pen name.

Thanks Doug, I didn't know that! Unfortunately I can't change it now, too much time has passed and it won't allow me to edit the post. I hate that they changed that!

Five OT posts in a row in the Free NOOK Book thread.
Please use this thread for that stuff and limit the Free thread for just book announcements.

@BrandieC -- Yes, I have downloaded the book and started reading it. I've just asked someone else to also download it and they had no problems. So maybe there was a momentary glitch in the system that has been cleared. They've just done a major update to the system, so there may be some hiccups from time to time as they tweak the changes.
Yes, OMG is an excerpt from The Last Testament, but to me that is no different than a short story posted as a stand-alone that is part of another collection -- for example, Backlash, a novelette by Nancy Fulda, is included in the collection Dead Men Don't Cry.

Hey spec
Thanks for posting so many free offerings on the free book thread!
Could you please begin to post these like Pink_Maiden and others do so that these do not end up being posted twice, i.e., use the B&N facility that provides the link as a book cover icon and provide a bit of description?
