I'm reading, it's OK. Not as great as I thought.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

Opps, sorry, posted on the old thread which has somehow made it back up to the top of the page....

I am currently reading

Watermark

I am really enjoying this book. I have always liked historical novels and I think this is a good one.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

I just finished and cannot wait for her next book next year. I love this author!

The Girl Who Chased the Moon

Now I am working on 3 books, although one is not a Nook book (gasp) it is an audiobook that I am listening to as I fall asleep. I have to laugh at myself because they are 3 VERY different books.

First, I am reading and loving. Looks like I am suckered into a huge series.

One for the Money (Stephanie Plum Series #1)

I am also reading

The Last Queen

And last but not least, I am listening to

The Passage

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

Just finished Kisscut-Karin Slaughter's 2nd in Grant County series.  It was SOOO nonstop! The topics involved were pretty sensitive and gory at times, but the continual suspense really draws you into the character's relationships and lives-carries on where the first one leaves off (Blindsighted).  Will move to #3 after I read The Bishop!

Kisscut

FINALLY I get to start on The Bishop by Steven James! I got to read the first 3 of his simultaneously and this is the long-awaited 4th.  This series is terrific for those of you who are real suspense/thriller junkies! Once you get to know the characters, you will be so involved that you cannot help but pick up the next.  In fact after reading the first 3, I really expected to see Patrick Bowers walking down the street sometime!  The Bishop was just released early Sun a.m.!!!

I'm nearly through American Gods by Neil Gaiman.  It's such a good book! A friend suggested I read it and I have been able to put it down.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

Yesterday I finished up Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Still have Through the Looking Glass to go through later. Reading one or two bits of Grimm's Fairy Tales on a daily basis, and am making my way through Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: DotD.

Hoping that one (or all) of the following will show up soon as part of B&N's free eBook promotion...

The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volume 1

The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volume 2

The Essential Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

Currently reading: The Complete Sherlock Holmes Vol 1, Grimm's Fairy Tales

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

Right now I'm reading

The Born Queen (Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone Series #4)

After this, I have no idea.  There are a lot of books being released over the next few months that I'm anxious to read, among them

The Way of Kings

Antiphon

Hopefully they're released in ebook; otherwise, I'll have to buy them in hardcover (though I may do it even if they're available in ebook lol).

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

I am rereading this one for the fourth time. Its the diary of a Marine in World War I who fortunately survived the war to put his diary in book form. If you are interested in military history and especially WWI, then this book is a must in your library. One thing that struck me is that you can see his transformation from a young recruit, nervous, fearful, and uncertain, into a hardened veteran, unmoved by the carnage he witnesses in battle.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

I'm currently working on the Shannara series of books by Terry Brooks.  I read the original trilogy as a kid and recently started reading the rest of the books after introducing the originals to one of my children.  Not sure where I'm going after this series: I've got a whole lot of previously purchased ebooks to choose from.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

[ Edited ]

Just finished:

The Automatic Detective

I haven't had this much fun reading a Sci-fi book in... I don't know, I can't remember. A great story line, interesting characters, inventive milieu, and a writing style that kept surprising me with its deft humor.

Now reading;

Tamar Black - Djinnx'd

Just getting started, but it's an inventive fantasy premise and amusingly written. Too bad the editing is so poor.

Normally I'd bail out on a book that had this many editing problems, but it's too much fun.

First of a five-book series.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

Not all the books I'm reading are ebooks but here they are

The Mists of Avalon (Avalon Series #1)

This is a very large book and it will take me awhile to get through it.  I am really enjoying it though.

The Witch's Journal

This is a pretty interesting book. I'm learning alot in it.

Witchling (Sisters of the Moon Series #1)

I'm still only on Chaper 4 right now but its pretty good so far.

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

Just finished:

Riverworld

I liked it, but I'm not sure why.  It was such a weird book, but I can't bring myself to continue the series right now.  Maybe later.

So, I started:

The Name of the Wind

Which so far, about 40 pages in, is pretty good.  Was just looking for something to fill the void until "Antiphon" by Ken Scholes comes out:

Antiphon

I've been looking at The Name of the Wind for a while and have been debating about buying it.  Let me know what you think of it when you're done reading it.

I feel like I'm in a holding pattern until the end of this month.  I'm waiting for Antiphon too!  As well as The Way of Kings.  There are SO many books being released in the next few months that have renewed my excitement in the genre.  It seems the focus has been on paranormal/urban fantasy for so long that epic fantasy has been sorely overlooked.  I can't wait!

I've gone back to my bookselves for the moment and am currently rereading The Tamuli to kill time until then.
