Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

[ Edited ]

I just finished :

The Help

I absolutely adored this book. I'm so sad that its over, I feel like I lost my dear friends Skeeter, Aibleen, and Minny : ( although I'm quite happy I don't have to read another thing about Miss Hilly Holbrook! haha

Any suggestions on what to read next?

Re: What is everyone reading (revisited)?

So this is my first post on here, but I figured that I ought to contribute since I enjoy reading this board so much! I just got back from a cruise, and I spent most of my time sitting on a lounge chair reading. I've read:

Star Island

(typical Hiaasen, but I like Hiaasen, so whatever.)

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium Trilogy Series #1)

(loved this!! can't wait to read the other two in the series, but I know I have a gift card coming as a birthday present and I'm trying to hold out...)

Too Good to Be True

I'm a fan of this author, and I'd never heard of her before I bought this book for just a couple of bucks. I plan to read the rest of her books now!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass (Barnes & Noble Classics Series)

Never read it before now. I was intrigued by an article I read a few months ago talking about the math involved (I'm a math teacher) but haven't really seen it thus far. I haven't finished it yet, even though it's short.

Julie and Julia

From the public library. It was cute!

If I Stay

From the public library. YA, I think, and a fairly depressing book but it was really good.

Scat

I think I like Hiaasen's kids books more than his adult books. This one also came from the public library.

Next up:

The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium Trilogy Series #2)

The Girl Who Chased the Moon

The Goodbye Summer

Every Last One

But I have to hurry because my summer vacation's almost over :smileysad:

Changes (Dresden Files Series #12)

I love this series! This one is different, though...I'm about halfway through, and I haven't quite figured it out. Hence the title, perhaps? :smileyhappy: I just got back from vacation, and had finally allowed myself to begin it while I was there - these books are my 5-pound box of gourmet chocolates, to be saved for when I can really enjoy them. They aren't hard reads or anything, but I just really like the characters and get immersed in their world(s). So I have to savor them, lol!

I am, too, but honestly, this was such a specific situation that I don't think it jerked my emotions any more than it would have if I weren't. (Um, did that make any sense? :womanvery-happy:)
