Directive 51  I am thinking of reading this soon though there is no B&N eBook there is a sony one.  Still a little pricey for me and am going to see if my library has it yet!

It sounds interesting, but Penguin has finally managed to really p*ss me off, so as much as I enjoy a number of Penguin authors, they're pretty much off my list for now.  I'll stick it in my wish list, but will look for it at the library or used DTBs.

I agree.  Currently Overdrive does not have it yet.  I think I might take a drive up to my library and see if they have a DTB addition!

WOW!!! I just finished "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest"...great book and excellent trilogy.  Read all three of Stieg Larrson's books and enjoy and then mourn we will never be priveleged enough to have the other seven to read.

I am now reading Brady Udall's "The Lonely Polygimist."

Thanks for the comment on "The Scent of Rain and Lightening". I have it on my Nook and  plan on that being one of my next reads...along with "Girl In Translation" (Jean Kwok), "The Map of True Places" (Brunonia Barry) and "Private Life" (Jane Smiley).

I've got about another 100 pages to go in "Hornets Nest".  Like all his books it seems to start out slow and then I can't put it down after a certain point.  I am also missing the next 7 books but at least we know the first three were excellent.

Re: What is everyone reading?

Just finished "Hornets Nest" and I can say in my opinion that it's obvious that Larsson wasn't planning on dying before finishing the 10 books.  "Hornets Nest" definitely would lend itself to another book in the series.  Oh well... :smileysad:

In any case I just started this book from the library:

Stieg Larsson

He had written about half of the next novel in the series when he died. That writing will probably never see the light of day, due to legal wrangling.

Switching from work to artist, it's amazing to me how Larsson screwed over the woman who'd lived with him for 30 years (most of his adult life). I guess I'm less amazed at how greedy his father and brother are in refusing to share any of the royalties with her. Seems to me, though, that this was just the sort of greed and injustice that Larsson was on about.

Switching back to the work: I think that the translator deserves an awful lot of credit for the success of the English versions of the books.

What I'm reading

[ Edited ]

I'm reading the First Look book.  Meh.  Gotta say it's one I'll be glad to finish reading.

Also The Accidental Bestseller which I got from the library and didn't realize that it is ALSO about a group of authors.  But these couldn't be more different.  I don't want this book to end!  :smileysad:

Re: What is everyone reading?

I just finished the second book in Nora Robert's Daring to Dream Trilogy, and I looked for the third book and couldn't find it.  It is not an ebook even though the first two books are ebooks (really doesn't make sense to have the first two and not the third).

I love her books and especially the series as she really develops her characters and by the end of the series, it is sometimes sad to end the story.

You and me both.  I'll finish the last part this weekend.  I read A Tapestry of Spells yesterday, because it's been sitting on my shelf since it was released months ago:

A Tapestry of Spells (Nine Kingdoms Series #4)

Because I love the stories of the Nine Kingdoms, I reread the first one today, after reading the second reading assignment of The Writing Circle (which I flew through this morning):

Star of the Morning (Nine Kingdoms Series #1)

I finished it a few minutes ago and will read the second and third over the next few days:

The Mage's Daughter (Nine Kingdoms Series #2)

Princess of the Sword (Nine Kingdoms Series #3)

Re: What is everyone reading?

I finished The Stand: Uncut earlier this week.  Since that was such a long book, I went with something shorter this time and am now reading Slaughterhouse Five.

By the way, I give The Stand five stars.  It was classic King.  I had a hard time putting it down.
