Note on Stieg Larsson: I don't know if it was so much as he was screwing over the girl he lived for all those years as in "it will never happen to me" and "can see about a proper will later." He died unexpectedly. I had read they had planned to pay off bills with the first books and then buy a summer place and contribute to their causes with the proceeds from the remaining books. There is no common law in Sweden so years together don't count. Next of kin rules. The father did allow her to keep the apartment they owned jointly and that was about it. However she does have his "writings" and is not letting those go. I had also read all he really had for the fourth novel was some roughs for part of it. I think it's his father and brothers who are being the greedy ones here. Larrson was still excited even the first books were going to be published when he died. Neither he nor the gf ever dreamt they would take off like this especially outside of Sweden.

Last week I finished reading Clive Cussler's "Medusa". Yeah, this was a good book! I was very happy with the adventure and tidbits about underwater adventure type things. Enough action to keep me from putting it down, a little bit of chase and some mystery. Made a great camping book! I will go start with #1 in the NUMA files series called The Serpent sometime soon. Nice summer read!
I also finished reading The Book of Spies tonight. It is an adventure style book in the international espionage type way---more like a quest for something. It really took off in the beginning and slowed in the middle. I enjoyed the book, but I found myself wanting them to quit running all over and get it done already. Overall, a pretty good read, but not quite up to all of the hype I had read...in my opinion. I would still read more by her in future though, she is very talented.

So, I'm assuming since you're just finishing the 3rd book you'd recommend the series?

Is "already dead" worth buying? I actually bought a hardcopy a while ago, but then misplaced it and don't feel like buying another hard copy but may be willing to put it on my nook.

Sucked it up and bought The Passage today after reading the first few chapters through the "read in store" option. I was tired of waiting to see if the NYPL was going to add anything other than the audiobook. Of course, now that I've bought it, they will DEFINITELY add it this week ![]()
(you think I joke, but that's exactly what happened with The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, the last book I actually bought rather than borrowed).
Not sure why I'm complaining though, as I still had a bunch of money from a gift card from a friend, so it's not like I actually paid for it in any event. ![]()
how to use Adobe Digital Editions generally / How to put library books on your nook

Yep! I like Charlie Huston's writing style. I've read "Already Dead" and will most likely buy the other two books in that trilogy as well. He's a fun read.

I think so. Quite honestly, I did look in all 3 libraries that I'm a member of and ended up buying it here. For some reason the libraries all only had the audio book.

LOL I just received an email from the LA Public Library that this book is ready for me to download!

After spending a week with extended family in TX, I needed a nice easy read without much DRAMA! ![]()

In the last two weeks, I read SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE and Beowulf (Barnes & Noble Classics Series). Slaughterhouse Five was a great read and I would recommend to all. Beowulf was a good book but it was a tough read for me.
Now I am reading
One Shot (Jack Reacher Series #9) . I believe this was the week 3 offering of the free in-store ebooks.

When GREEN starts, it picks up where book 3 ( WHITE) left off. But is written in such a way that it ends where book 1 (BLACK) picks up. What it is basically about is the main character travels back and forth in time in a 2000 yr span.
I actually purchased GREEN as a DTB before I bought my NOOK. The 1st book I bought for my neek was
But only paid $9.99 for it. BN put the price up when the Agency 5 did their thing, although this is not an Agency 5 book. I decided that I wanted to read teh series in the order they were written, that is why I am reading GREEN last instead of 1st.
Here is the overview from the BN web site:
Dekker's prequel/sequel to his "Circle" trilogy (Black, Red, and White) is an apocalyptic, spellbinding thriller set 2000 years in the future. Earth as we know it has been destroyed. Thomas Hunter, who time-traveled to the future, discovers that his son has joined up with the dark forces. VERDICT Dekker continues to write shocking stories that revolve around the war between good and evil in our hearts. His myriad fans will want this suspenseful, larger-than-life visionary novel, which will also appeal to readers who enjoy Dean Koontz and Stephen King.
