While the android app has many wonderful features and does a great job at managing my Barnes & Noble ebook collection, it lacks a feature allowing the user the shut the app down completely. The only way to get out of the app is to press the device's back or home button. When this is done, it leaves all of the services for the Nook app running in the background.
While this might not be a problem for many high powered phones and tablets, it is a big problem for devices with limited processing power and memory. This is such the case with my android tablet. The only current solution to this problem is to manually force close the app when not in use which shuts down all of the Nook app's services. Are there plans to add a true exit option in the future? If not please send this message to your android developers to add to a future release.

You should be able to exit the NOOK app, by tapping the menu button on your device. You will then see the option to "LogOut".
Hope this helps!
