Can't sign in to nook account from one of my computers. Fine from other computers.

I have a brand-new laptop running WIndows 7.  I also have a brand-new desktop running Windows 7.  From my new desktop, and all my other computers, I can sign in to my nook account, no problem.  And my nook for pc library shows all my books.

BUT from my new laptop, when I try to sign into my nook account, it either asks me over and over again to sign in, or it just closes the browser window.   (Also, as I posted in another thread, my nook for pc library shows as empty on my laptop -- presumably because it can not sign in to the account.)  I can sign in to my regular B&N.com account without a problem -- but I can't get in to my nook account to see my library or make a purchase.

The problem seems to be specific to this computer.  When I try to sign in with my wife's account, the situation is the same -- it's fine from other computers, but I can't sign in from my laptop.

I have an older laptop -- running the exact same anti-virus and firewall software -- and there is no problem signing in from that laptop.

Any clue anyone?  I have a whole family of nook-users, and we're about to go on vacation.   I want to be able to sideload and share my nook books, and to be able to browse and  buy them online!

Thanks.

Re: Can't sign in to nook account from one of my computers. Fine from other computers.

So here's more information on this very werid problem:

I  shut off all the firewalls on the new laptop, and also connected the laptop with an ethernet cable instead of using the wireless card.  Didn't help.

When I log into my barnes and noble.com account from the main page, my bn account is recognized no problem -- I can see the physical items I have purchased, and it shows me as signed in.   But when I click on "My nook", it does not recognize me as signed in.  It asks me to sign in, which I can not do successfully.

So -- since the problem happens both with the website and the nook app, I'm guessing it's not a browser-related issue.

Since it happens when I'm using an ethernet cable, with my wireless card disabled, I'm guessing it's nothing to do with my wireless settings.

Since it happens with all firewalls turned off, I'm guessing it's not a firewall issue.

Since it happens on my wife's account as well, I'm guessing it's nothing specific to my account.

Any guesses?

Thanks.

I assume you are using IE.

Go into preferences/settings in IE.

If possible do it on both your functioning desktop, and your non-functional laptop simultaneously and compare the settings (specifically the security settings) one-by-one.

This sounds like a browser settings issue to me.

Thanks, LarryonLI.  I did that, but I'll go back and look harder.

The reason I'm thinking it's not a browser issue is that my account isn't recognized when I'm using the nook for PC program directly, not on a browser.  Also, I tried it with Safari with no luck..

I am having exactly the same problem on my laptop. I use windows 7.  I have tried 3 different browsers, Firefox, Chrome and IE. None of them work, they just keep looping back to login when i try to access my Nook info.

I am having the same problem with the Nook for PC and the Nook Study app.  Need help immediately.

Re: Can't sign in to nook account from one of my computers. Fine from other computers.

I just got a new Windows 7 computer too and am having the same problem.  I couldn't even respond to the thread on this page without having to do so on my old computer.  Compared all the browser settings for both Chrome and IE.  I have no problem on my old one, husband's one or work one.  HELP!
