When I archived/unarchived one of my books today on the B&N website, there suddenly was a message displayed "We are working on making this book available on Nook for the web TM".
Is a Nook web based ereader coming soon?

Did you go to your library at bn.com or on a Nook? If at bn.com, where on your library page did the link appear? I can't see any. I did, however, see something odd on the My Account login page when I logged in. Below the My Account heading and above the login box was a page-wide blue strip that had a red "! 300" in it, like maybe there was supposed to be something else, but a link was broken.
Anyway, it appears they are working on something exciting. I guess it could either be a software update to existing wifi Nooks, or could be a new reader with 3G access and perhaps cloud-only access.

When I went into My Nook on my PC, next to the recommend button there was a link that said "Read Instantly". The download button was missing. Last night when I clicked on the button, it took me to a web version of Nook. Today the link was there, I clicked on it, but I get an error page and when I went back the link was gone. Tried it again, logged out of my account, logged back in and went to My Nook. The Download and Recommend buttons were there, along with Read Instantly, but error message again, now it's gone.
So apparently they're testing something, got to be the only company I know of that tests on the live server.

This could be a possible explanation why B&N has not developed new ereader apps for Windows Mobile and Blackberry, With a web ereader you could read your B&N ebooks on any device with a compatible browser. Perhaps they had already planned the release of a web ereader.

I think a browser based app is a good idea but that's assuming you have Internet access all the time. Won't do much good on a plane or if I want to read at lunch where I have no Internet access all day.
