Nook Apps and Canada

As a Canadian, why is it that I can download and use the 'Nook for PC' app, but I cannot download the Nook app for my iPod Touch or iPad (the app does not appear in Apple's Canadian app store)?

I want to be able to read my B&N books on my apple devices as well as my Nook. Until B&N makes the Nook app available to Canadian customers, I will have to buy my books from the Kobo store, as they have an app available and this permits me to read their books on both devices.

B&N - you are losing my money and you don't have to be!

Re: Nook Apps and Canada

Same here. I just bought a couple of ebooks specifically to read on my new iPad and now cannot do so. That forces me to buy ebooks elsewhere. Note, we are BUYING ebooks, and per capita, Canadians spend a lot of money online.

I guess I just won't buy them from BN until this situation changes.

Re: Nook Apps and Canada

I just tried to do this last night. Dumb move B&N

I was going to consider buying a Nook, but since there are a lack of apps for my devices (iPod and Samsung Focus WP7). I'm going to go the Kobo route.

I do have a Kindle, but not all titles are available in Canada and lack of library (EPUB) support really burns me.

Any device, any time, anywhere -c'mon is that really too much to ask

Until B&N is ready to fully support us Canucks, I won't be a customer. Sad as I think they have a lot of advantages over both Kindle and Kobo, but if I can't take advantage of these fully, there is no point.

Why is the iPod app not avaialble in Canada?

Re: Nook Apps and Canada

I SO AGREE with everyone else!  Why can't we get these apps in the Canadian App Store??  I love my nook, but buy most of my books from Kobo because I can read them on all of my devices.  Come on Barnes and Noble, get with the program! :smileysad:

Here's another vote for "You've got to be kidding me."   It must have been two years ago or close to it that I bought a Kindle and added the software to my various devices.  Why they can't or won't ship to Canada is amazing by itself but allowing us to have the software for our computers but not our pocket devices is beyond amazing.  Thank God for Kindle.

Re: Nook Apps and Canada

Same here guys! I even wrote to apple app help for this because there is no clear information regarding the unavailability for Cacadians. I feel cheated. I want to shake off Kobo for it's poor service but I'm finding out that good service is not available anywhere it seems...

B&N, You have the opportunity to lead in the market. TAKE IT!!!

Why is there no response to this thread from Barnes & Noble? I have the same problem and I do not understand why they have to piss off Canadians.

[ Edited ]

Some of it may have to do with the Investment Canada Act, passed by the Canadian govt, which severely restricts BN (and other retailers) abiltity to sell in Canada.  If you search the boards for investment Canada, you will find a lot of information posted by Doug Pardee which explains the Investment Canada act and the associated restrictions.

Not saying this is related to this issue, but it appears to have had impact on Canadians ability to purchase ebooks from Canada.

It's unlikely BN will respond to a post on a user forum, they rarely do, in fact, most companies do not respond to posts on user forums, especially on something like this.
