Ok I checked the search and didn't see prior messages on this so no yelling if its a repeat. So anyway twice now I have had to part with my Nook for a few days while customer service had to send me a new wire to my nook, because the top of the wire..(where the "U" is..) keeps pulling out and exposing the wires which then renders the cord useless to charging...I was told by customer service that they are having a lot of problems and have been speaking with the manufacturer and of course tech support said they had no idea what customer service was talking about..They even asked me if I was gentle enough with it..Seriously? Yes I throw around my $250 Nook like a frisbee..Now again I have to wait the four days to get shipped a new one..and I use my Nook daily for hours..uugghh. Any one else having this issue??

Someone - actually two people - got new cables today by walking into BN and asking nice. That thread is under "charger starting to break."
BN is having some issues with that charging cable. Tech support is not on the same page yet as everyone else, apparently. They recently told someone with a related problem that there was a problem with her NC involving a moving part that NCs don't actually have. Getting the tech support crew up to speed on these issues (cable being damaged; charger overheating; cable overheating; internal elements of the NC overheating) is apparently taking some time.
You might do well to take both your nook and the cable to the store - having had two separate like that, you might have a unit with too tight a fitting inside the NC, and the staff can probably feel how it seats and see if they think they are concerned enough to replace the unit on the spot.

Thank you..I do wonder if the Nook itself could be the problem because I always have problems trying to get the wire into the Nook..maybe I need to have it replaced..I am glad you mentioned it or I never would have thought of that..your awesome! Thanks!

I brought my NC and the charger and cord to B&N yesterday, showed the Nook Specialist the fraying cord, asked if it was a problem, she said, "Oh, yes!" and looked to see if they had a spare cord from a return. She said if they didn't, I could either buy a new charge kit (nope!) or call B&N CS, and they would send me a new one.
Sure enough, she found a brand new, still wrapped with black rubber band and everything cord, handed it to me, kept mine, done.
