Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

Last few days? week? getting a 5-10seconds of "waiting bn.i.illium.com" on loading threads and such. Anybody else experiencing this? As only happens on this site.

And is pretty consistently delayed loading pages,threads,etc..

Sorry if this is OT? as didn't know where to post for forum issues and last search for issue was last year.

Thanks.

Good on my PC & NC.

Might be problems with your ISP or one of the other major feeds to you ISP

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

Yep possible on ISP as time to time erratic choking behaviour.

But at $10/mo. can live with it. Just confirming as have seen B&N having issues before.

Thanks!

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

If you are going through your ISP's transparent proxy server (which might be collecting usage data) that might slow you down.

Samsung Garnet Red Galaxy Tab2 (7.0"): Android 4.1.1 rooted
Acer Iconia A500 (two): Android 4.0.3 rooted;; Nook Color: B&N 1.4.3 rooted
Nook Touch (two): B&N 1.2.1 rooted; Nook 1stEd/3G (two): B&N 1.7.0 rooted.
Customer loyalty is earned, not commanded or deserved, and easily lost.
Nothing is foolproof, because fools are so ingenious. Same for rooters.

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

For me these forums have been very slow the past couple of days. This visit seems to be more normal, though.

me too and it's not any ISP as that would slow everything down.  it's just this site, no others.  since yesterday it's been loading considerably slower than it had in the days previous.

This site is working as quickly as every other site, and no change from the regular speed.

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

well, as we speak it seems to have returned to normal.  i've been on all day, other forums, amazon to buy this, somewhere else to buy that, but everytime i'd stop by here i'd get a 15-30 second delay to load.  at the bottom of chrome it would say waiting for bn.i.lithium.com.  going to that site in another tab would end up at bn.cdn.lithium.com/?nobounce= which is a list of all the BN forums.  anyway, it seems fine now so i don't know what happened, it wasn't me.

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

Yep.  It has slowed down noticeably in the last week.  My wife and I were on a 2-week cruise and since we returned a week ago the page loading has been excruciatingly slow, particularly late in the evening PDT.  It's the only site that is slow.  I frequent half a dozen tech forums, yahoo, sports sites and don't have a problem. It is particularly noticeable on my PC, but then my NC has always loaded these forums' pages faster than my PC.

I find myself passing over some topics because it's so slow, so I have become more selective in what I read.

My browsing is usually limited to late evening, but I'll check it out during the day Monday.

Things were fine last night, but slowed down considerably again today. They must not have the  bandwidth to keep up with the daytime traffic.

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

yup, it was fine this morning now it's again slow.  however, at least for me, this is a recent phenomenon.  until just a few days ago, load times were comprable to any other web site regardless of the time i visited.

as i stated earlier, i'm using chrome and when it's slow i get (lower right corner of browser) Waiting on bn.i.lithium.co.  but, unless someone alerts the moderator of this thread we'll never know.  i gotta go but maybe someone with a little time could PM Sam with this link...

...we always did server upgrades over holidays so perhaps (if they did one) their upgrade screwed something else up...ours always did :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

Well, I browsed the internet several times Monday.  Everything, including these forum pages, displayed rather quickly from 2:20 PM (all times are PDT) until 3:00 PM, at which time I stopped browsing.  I resumed at 7:30 PM.  Until about 10:30 most of my browsing was done on these forums and the speed was very good.  Then I went off to other sites until about 11:45. Those other sites were displaying rapidly.  But when I came back to these forums at 11:45, things got extremely sluggish, but only for these forums.

Examples: It took 30 seconds from when I clicked on the NOOK Color General Discussion forum name until the forum threads appeared.  When I clicked on this thread, it took 30 seconds for the posts to appear and another 15 seconds until I could scroll through them.  These are the typical times I've been experiencing recently, although before tonight this slowness would start before 10:00 PM.  Tonight it started later.

Maybe B&N is doing server maintenance at night, but, if so, they should wait until at least midnite PDT.  I always did that when I was doing non-energency system adminstration.

Yeah, I have to vote for way slow also. After clicking the reply button, I had to wait about 15-20 seconds before any activity.

Re: Are the B&N forums loading pages slow?

Pages aren't loading slower than usual for me when the load, but the pages on B&N always load a bit slower than any others I visit.  I have been getting the white, "Your request is being processed," screen fairly regularly over the last few days, though.
