Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Big News: Nook App Shop now online at bn.com!

Folks have been asking for this for some time, and it's now here.  All the Nook Apps previously only browsable on your NC are also available on the B&N website.

In the Search box at the top, just type Nook Apps to see a list of them all.  By default, this is in alphabetical order, but can also be sorted by Price (low to high and high to low), Best Selling, and even Newest to Oldest.  Unfortunately, the Newest doesn't seem to be working yet.  This is because ALL items are dated 1/1/2011.  :smileysad:  You can also search by the name of the app (e.g. ezPDF), or by the developer name (e.g. AgileFusion).

At the top level, there is no way to selectively access just Apps either in the Department List or the Search Categories, BUT once you've entered Nook Apps, the left sidebar will have a Nook Apps Category, which will weed out the rest, and then you can select subcategories to browse.  Or select by price range (unfortunately designed more for books, because the lowest category is under $10).  So, e.g. Productivity gives you the same App list as on your NC.

If you do a search for a common item with many book hits (e.g. Peter Rabbit), you can then just select the Nook Apps subcategory on the left to see only the app(s).

For each app, you have the Overview description information, Screen snapshots (at a size you can really see some useful details!), User Reviews (and Average Rating), and one helpful new addition not on the NC itself: File Size information.  So you can see in advance if something is really big (though I'm not sure I believe all the numbers I've seen there.  Some seem too high, and others too low.).  Unfortunately, the Current Version information is not available (at least not yet).  You can also Buy It Now while you're online, and have it downloaded later.

Congrats to the B&N web team for getting a very useful adjunct available online!  I'm sure a lot of people will really enjoy this new option.

Thanks for the heads up!  Now I know why the B&N search kept loading empty white pages all morning.  They've been working on the site.

Two nice improvements in the online version is that Reviews can be rated as Helpful or Not, and then sorted by Most Helpful.  (Or by High to Low, or Most Recent.)

The second being there is a button to "Report this Review" for bogus postings.  Yay!

One additional discovery... make sure you have All Products selected in the Search box when you start.  Otherwise the side tab for Nook Apps won't appear.

Great news!  Now I can look to see if new apps have been added while I'm at work insttead of waiting to get home (it's an addiction).

Re: Big News: Nook App Shop now online at bn.com!

I found these were up because of an advertisement email and I clicked on one. Surprised they didn't make this an announcement. Really glad it's online now. They must be still updating because a few came up as not found.

What's weird, especially with the games, is the images are sideways! :smileyindifferent: It is good that you can view images of the app now, but I'm not sure why they they weren't rotated.

Very happy that I don't have to scroll through the Nook to find apps.

Re: Big News: Nook App Shop now online at bn.com!

Thanks for the heads up, Mark.

One glitch is that if you click on "All Departments", put your cursor over "NOOK" and slide your cursor over to "Apps" under "Nook Color" you get this page:

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nookcolor-apps/379002750

you have to use the search toolbar to find the apps.  if I hadn't been told that in this thread, I wouldn't have found them.  I' sure they'll fix it soon.
