Can You Use Drop Box to Get Books from Library uploaded to Nook?

[ Edited ]

I realize you need software to download the library books to the computer.  But my question is this - can you move that download to Dropbox for it to upload to the Nook or do you still have to physically sideload by connecting Nook to the computer?

Haven't tried it but don't think it would work. I've tried emailing the file to myself from it's folder in ADE .& opening the file in Nook & would not open. Think we are stuck sideloading. I saw a note from the Overdrive Blog today dated 1/26 that said that the OverDrive app had been submitted for approval by BN so it could be added to the Nook app store. This may have been derailed, @ least temporarily by what's going on between the Big Six publishers & OD. A lot of the stiink related to OD allowing direct downloads to Kindle last Nov. The plug has recently been pulled on that  & Kindle users now need to sideload as well. Until that situation is calmed down would probably not be a good political move on the part of OD to allow Nook users to direct download. Publisher want to make it harder for people to download library books, not easier. So could take a while before we see an app.

Seems unlikely to work with the original version, since the ADE software is converting between ADE and B&N digital rights management systems when it sideloads the book.

Someone with a B&N PC ebook software and the Nook might experiment with using ADE to convert it over to the B&N PC ebook software and then seeing it that file can be shared on the Dropbox. I don't know if that would work or not ~ it would certainly require the two (B&N PC program and Nook) to be working off the same account, but I'd would definitely not be surprised if there is some other obstacle.

I'd try it myself, but my library cannot afford Overdrive, so I'd have to wait until I can afford to buy a book from the Kobo or Sony ebook stores to try it out.
