Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. On May 1, we’re saying goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Close application?

Is there a way to terminate an application like a task manager? I feel like that should be standard on a device like this.  Not only do I have the same problems with Angry Birds locking on me, but the internet did it yesterday.  I can back out using the home button but when I launch the internet again, it HOLDS my place instead of launching a new program and brings me back to the frozen screen.

Re: Close application?

Hey Benguin,

I don't know if your NC completely froze or not.  But if you still have touch capability, you can drop down the options menu in the upper right corner of the browser and select "Windows".  It then shows you any open browser windows on your device, and each one h as a little X next to it, so you can close the problem window.

I agree that the NC needs some way to close apps.  It feels weird just hitting the Home button.  I feel like the app is still sitting there in the background running (and using up my battery).

Re: Close application?

Sometimes I have had luck with backswiping to get to a previous and unfrozen screen.  with videos, tapping the upper left corner sometimes gives me a "back" button.

Re: Close application?

I will have to try that. the freeze happened after I scrolled down on Facebook and then had no access to the html bar buttons!  I will try tapping the upper corners next time.
