Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: Lets figure this out together

Had to make a run & the B&N store is close by - so stopped in. Tried connecting at the store, and same issue.

Employees were clueless - lady manning NC area said she could not connect either - sent me to customer service. They made a call, and said it was a system wide problem, and service would be back up shortly - that was 3-4 hrs ago.

I happened to be in B&N when it reset but had no idea about this mess at the time. I had NOT done an update of the software yet and it was the first time my nook had been on since Apr 20th. Before this everything worked great. Angry Birds was my drug of choice.

Re: Lets figure this out together

Ummm ... I'm not sure what you are hoping to accomplish. This was a B&N main server problem that affected everyone. It wasn't a problem with your nook.

Re: Lets figure this out together

Reset: no.  Wi-fi on but didn't have access, I'm  not sure if I was using it or not at the time of the outage. I think I turned it on about 4:30 to play a game to kill time while waiting for my sister-in-law to get out of surgery. Not rooted.

I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.

From the data so far, it seems that B&N was sending the updated "OTA" but if you already sideloaded it, it tried to install it anyway which caused the reset problem.

More data needed as this is a small sample.

Any other theories?

This is 1 of my 2 theories. They were sending the official OTA update and caused issues to those who sideloaded it
