Re: Nook Chess program error

But of you move pawn 4/2-6 then we have all out war! You should see it when the queen buries the other King...

How do you castle queenside, again? I've tried it and I can't get it to let me.

Re: Nook Chess program error

Ive done it again in a different situation

the nook cheats

same pawn (3rd) from left when moved 2 spaces the nook cheats and acts as if it moved 1 and takes the pawn. It even sets it in the 2 space move but quickly the screen changes as if it was only moved 1. Makes it impossible to win

I was actually able to get the pawn to show in the proper space with camera shot and then the next frame you can see the black pawn in the space as though it captured the brown pawn as if the brown pawn moved only 1

Just to clarify, you're not talking about the En passant rule, are you?

Re: Nook Chess program error

You are talking about the En Passant rule and the computer is not cheating, it is applying the rules correctly.

You can read up on it here:

Re: Nook Chess program error

It looks like that can be the effect except I am not able to undo back 2 moves to see if my previous move was also a 2 space pawn move.

For as long as I have played chess on my strictly amateur level I have never heard of that move.

But the effect seems to be that it treats my moves as though it was

Re: Nook Chess program error

I am facing a related issue. The en-passant rule is applied correctly when the NC is capturing my pawn, but when the NC moves 2 steps and I try to capture, my pawn moves to the right square, but the NC pawn is still on the board! I have tried this several times with the same result.

So suppose I'm playing white and I have a pawn on c5 and the NC has a pawn on b7. If the NC plays pawn b7-b5, I should be able to capture it with cxb5 e.p, and my pawn should land on b6. However, the black pawn remains on b5 after the move though my pawn moves to b6. This does not happen when roles are reversed.
