Nook Color won't turn off - touch screen won't react

I bought my nook color around three weeks ago.  It was working fine and the batter life was great.  Unfortunately, in the past two days, I have not been able to unlock my nook color.  I attempted to turn it off but I cannot even do that because the touch screen would not react to my tapping.  I read on another blog that if I fully charge it over night, then it should be fine.  Any recommendations?

Hold the power button down for an even longer time, about 20-30 seconds.  This forces a shutdown.  Give the screen a good cleaning while its off, and then power it up.  This has fixed this issue for me in the past.

Same with me ~ grease etc. on the glass can interfere with the touchscreen. Hold the power button long enough and you don't need to tap the screen.
