Please help! Some of my books won't open!

One of the first books I bought on my Nook Color was "When Pride Still Mattered." I got a long ways into it, with several notes and highlights, and all of the sudden the book would automatically crash every time I tried to open it. I'd open it, it would send me back to the main screen. I took the Nook Color to my local B&N store, they couldn't figure it out. Customer Service was completely baffled. So they refunded my money, I re-downloaded it, and it still did the same thing.

I was hoping it was a one-time thing. But now, I purchased the book "Polk," and read about a third of it in one day. Now, all of the sudden, the same damn thing is happening.

Listen, I love this Nook Color. It's been fantastic for a person who reads as much as I do. But I don't want to have to worry about this every time I start a book. All of my highlights are gone from both of these books.

Yes, I can side-load it off my computer. But then, I can't post status updates to social media, I don't retain my notes and highlights and the book cover doesn't even show up in my library. I'm left with two books that just look gray with no title or cover. Please, please tell me how I can fix this. It is completely driving me crazy!

Also, I have tried "Archiving" and "unarchiving" over and over again, so that isn't the problem.

AND.... The books are working fine on my computer app and my Android app. I'm only having problems with the books on the NookColor. Thanks!

I have managed to figure this problem out on my own just by trial and error.

FOR ALL WHO HAVE THIS PROBLEM:

It is all about highlights. If you have too many highlights, the Nook Color freaks out and won't open your files. I went on my Nook Android app and deleted several highlights from one of the books, synced it, then archived the book on BarnesandNoble.com. Then, I redownloaded it on my Nook Color and what do you know? The book works now.

It's all about highlights.

This is pretty ridiculous, though. Hopefully they address this in the next software update. Why have highlights as an option if there is such a thing as too many of them?

It is good to know you found a solution, but it does seem ridiculous that there would be some unknown limit on the number of highlights.  My niece got a NOOKcolor for her birthday and she is a highlight-aholic, so I hope she doesn't hit that wall.

This would be a good suggestion for the update, to fix this.

Are you able to get a sense if it is a specific number that gives it indigestion, or a percentage, or...?
