my nook about every 3 days.  Show me a ROM of theirs that can do that.

All of this might change when B&N decides to comply with the GPL license of the Linux kernel and provide the source code (as per the requirements of the GPL license.)  But until that time, it's simply not worth it IMHO.

Isn't this the source code? The link about 1/3 down after Attachement 1.

What is tell you that you have an invalid or corrupt file???  Your PC or Mac??  Your PC or Mac shouldn't even be looking at the contents of the file.   You are not trying to open the ".zip" file, are you??  You shouldn't be doing that either.

The instructions are simple:

  1. Download the file.
  2. Copy the file to the root of your Nook (not the SD card).
  3. Ignore any warnings your OC or Mac gives you.

Samsung Garnet Red Galaxy Tab2 (7.0"): Android 4.1.1 rooted
Acer Iconia A500 (two): Android 4.0.3 rooted;; Nook Color: B&N 1.4.3 rooted
Nook Touch (two): B&N 1.2.1 rooted; Nook 1stEd/3G (two): B&N 1.7.0 rooted.
Customer loyalty is earned, not commanded or deserved, and easily lost.
Nothing is foolproof, because fools are so ingenious. Same for rooters.
