Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Top 10 Things To Do While Waiting for the NC Update

[ Edited ]

Top 10 Things To Do While Waiting for the Nook Color Update (with apologies to David Letterman).

# 10:Go to the Nook Color software update page and refresh the screen until the version number changes.

# 9:  Visit a B&N Store and ask a store employee when will the Nook Color run Flash.

# 8:  Visit an Apple Store and ask a store employee when will the iPad run Flash.

# 7:  Impress your friends by balancing a Nook Color on your head while exclaiming how well you can balance 100 virtual books on your head.

# 6:  Come up with a new title for "Fahrenheit 451" keeping virtual books in mind.

# 5:  Watch YouTube reruns of the Nook Color on the Home Shopping Network.

# 4:  Place your Nook Color under your pillow at night and check in the morning to see if the Nook fairy has installed the update (any money found is an extra bonus).

# 3:  Read the 1,200+ page "War and Peace" e-book.  If you finish the book before the update comes out, read the original Russian language version.

# 2:  Find a Kindle owner and reenact PC and Mac guy commercials (you are the Mac guy, of course)..

... and the #1 top thing to do while waiting for the Nook Color update is:

Root your Nook Color  (Murphy's Law # 892 says an update will be become available immediately after rooting your Nook Color).

Feel free to add your own, but keep it upbeat and/or humorous.

Dan
