I just purchased a recertified NC for my mother. It has 1.2 on it now. Is there any problem with upgrading directly to 1.4 or do you have to go to 1.3 first (and how would I do that)? Thanks...

There should be no problem going straight to 1.4.1. You can either wait for the auto update or do it manually now.

There seem to be some glitches with the 1.4 update and I have read here that B&N has put the auto updating for it on hold. I recommend that you just use your NookC as is and wait for B&N to work out their problems and start the updates again. That's what I would do.

Now that's interesting. If what you say is correct, the auto-update's on hold yet the manual update is still available for download/install and there's no warning on the update page that folks should wait, no indication of what the problems are, etc.
The two issues I have seen with my 1.4.1 are the new "reappearing emails after deletion" and the reappearance of apps on my home page that I've removed from the home page.

Thanks for the quick responses. I went ahead and downloaded the update and it went just fine. I put it on my own NC a couple weeks ago, which also went fine.
FWIW, I haven't had any issues with 1.4 but I use it just for a reader 99% of the time that I run it as a Nook. I have CM7 on a card that I boot into for other uses. I run it about 50/50 Nook/CM7. For me it's more useful running CM7 than as a Nook except for the B&N Reader app. The Kindle Android app runs fine under CM7, tho, so you can get the best of both that way. But I digress...
Happy New Year to all....
