Wireless transfer question

Hi:

Has any progress been made in being able to wirelessly move e-pubs from a PC to the Nook?  Hooking up my nook to a PC via USB at times is trying - sometimes it works fine, others the PC won't recognize the Nook.  Thanks.

Re: Wireless transfer question

Hi:

OK, got dropbox om my computer and on my nook.  Transfered he file from my computer to dropbpx.  Now, how do I get it off drop box and into my files.  When I click download, only says to SD card - which I don't have (yet).  Am I missing something?

Re: Wireless transfer question

Take a look at Drop2Sync on the B&N App Store.  It uses DropBox but provides several enhancements like the ability to select main memory or the SD card and how to handle PDF and Epub files.

Re: Wireless transfer question

Hi:

Tohanks, I/ll take a look.  Also just e-mailed a book to myself and it downloaded perfecly on the Nook to my files with no problems.  Now to try the Drop2sync and see which is easier.

Re: Wireless transfer question

Was it a library book you emailed to yourself? I tried this with a library book & would not open. Also tried emailing it to a friend who also has a Nook to see if he could get it to  open in ADE or Calibre on his compurer & no dice

Library books have adobe DRM on them and are associated with a particular ADE account. They have to be opened in ADE and transfered to the Nook through ADE.

Re: Wireless transfer question

Thanks - but I know that. This was just an experiment. Per my prior post book was copied from my computer's default ADE iolder as an email attachment with an attempt made to open in Nook. Someone else had reported this works. Theoretically it should work as both the computer sending the file & the Nook are devices working off the same ADE ID. However, It doesn't work & the epub file will not open if delivered in this manner. This leads me to believe the epub file that comes from the library may not be the complete package & needs "something else"  to allow the book to open in the Nook. This "something else" could be a file that is either sent along with the epub file when sideloading occurs. Or, it could be a file created  by the Nook acknowledging reciept & specifying electronic terms of use (eg the expiration date). I tend to think the latter may be the case.

I noticed that after a book is downloaded there is another file that appears in the Nooks ADE folder along with the book. This file does not appear anywhere on my computer hd. Can't remember what the file is called but I think it is something like Manifest or Annotation. If that file is not present the book is not going to open by an alternative method which would include both the email method I tried or via Drop Box. In short you can download the book to Nook wirelessly but you can't get it to open.
