books purchased from BN to PC not downloading?

Hi,
I am a total newby with my Nook Color. I got it yesterday. I've figured out how to get a library book onto my NC, but I'm not having any success with what should be so simple--getting books from my BN account onto my Nook, unless they are there and I just can't find them?
I thought they should automatically synch from my BN account on my PC to the NC, but that didn't happen so then I tried downloading them to my books file and that seemed to work, but now I don't see them on the NC in that folder.
I can't see from reading user documentation that comes with the device what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help me (and sorry for what seems like a ridiculously simple question)?

Is your NC connected to wifi? Have you done a sync?

Hi,
I just got off the phone with the BN tech support (he was very helpful which was great for my first call).
I wanted to share the resolution in case anyone else experiences this with their new NC.
I had to unregister and re-register my NC. Nothing else he suggested would work.
I knew my wireless connection was working because I tried surfing the Internet and I knew purchasing directly from the NC would work because I tried that too. But nothing would work to move books purchased from the BN website to my NC.
Tech guy said there was no record of this happening to anyone else, so maybe no one will ever need this info, but I wanted to put it on the forum just in case there's another lucky NC owner like me! ![]()

When I used a Kindle the books downloaded in a few minutes. With BN I have waited for an hour or more. On 2 occasions the book showed up on my NC with "download" accross it and would not download no matter how many times I clicked on it. I had one like that last night and ended up fixing it by rebooting. Rebooting is the time honored way to fix most computer problems. At least it works in this instance. ![]()

Since the update, I've had the experience that syncing seemed like it wasn't working, and then voila - after the NC went to sleep, the books were magically there the next time I woke it up. This has only happened once (only because I've only purchased books once since the update), so I'll have to see if it happens again.

I hope anyone having this trouble gets it worked out. It's never happened to me, honestly. It always has been the case that the books download right away.
One other less traumatic solution instead of de-registering is when anything goes wrong, try completely powering off and back on. NCs, like computers sometimes hang up. Sometimes of course there's a minor disconnect from the server which is not obvious and does not result in an error message-like the message you will get when the server is down due to maintenance. So, a reboot can help.
Just hold down the power button until it asks if you want to power off and do, then hold it to power back on.

I'm hoping this won't be an on-going issue for me.
I did try powering off and turning back on last night, then the tech support person had me try it again this morning. Neither time worked.
Seems like shooting yourself in the foot to make the long term money maker--downloading books from BN--unreliable.
I'm happy with my NC and I'm sure they'll smooth all these lumps out over time. If I'm having the same problems with version 1.8 or some such future version I'll be cheesed, but for now it is fun to be exploring this new technology.

Most of the time i have gotten mine within a matter of minutes, but there have been a few books that took up to a hour or so.

Just wondering what the books look like on your BN account. If you go there on the PC, does it give you the option to archive them. I'd try that and then try unarchiving on the PC to see if they might start downloading.
I just wonder if there isn't some hiccup with connection between your NC and the servers. I have been very lucky that this has not happened to me.
