Just got my new Nook Color for Christmas in Oz and have thus far been unable to get it to connect via USB cable with my PC. I'm running Windows 7. When connected, it will display the "connecte via USB" message on the Nook but no trace of it on the PC.
And now today the screen has started flashing on startup and will not stop.

I am having a similar problem. However, when I go to the devices window on my laptop, I can see the nook in the device list, but the properties window says it cannot be started. Essentially, it detects and charges, but Windows is refusing to assign drive letters to it.

I managed to solve the problem by going into the Manage function of Windows and using Disk Management to locate two drives with no letters (the nook and the SD card). I was able to assign a drive letter to each of them. Then it was back to normal.
