My NC updated last night and all the apps that I purchased yesterday (6) will not install today. I've cycled the power 3 times. Fully charged it. Archived and unarchived - though only the ones I haven't tried to install will unarchive. The ones I had attempted to install before archiving will not unarchive. Anyone else have this issue?

I have had this problem also after the update. I have three apps that will not download. I also tried to power down and archive/unarchive without success. How can I revert to prior version? B&N tells me to go to the app provider and the app provider tells me to go to B&N. This is why I am hesitant to purchase apps.

I'm the original poster and I just wanted to come back and say that I fixed it on my own. I also own a NTablet and it was due to upgrade soon. So I archived everything in case I ran into problems with the tablet upgrade. I cleaned my NC and NT completely off (100+ apps/magazines/books). Then I upgraded my tablet manually. Followed by unarchiving/installing everything on both NT/NC and it worked. I don't know why archiving everything and then unarchiving everything would suddenly allow those few new apps that I had purchased to install?! Not complaining but makes me wonder.
So my recommendation is to archive everything then try unarchiving. Worse comes to worse you'll need to go back to factory reset but then you'll also have everything already archived so it's saved.
Oh one last thought I should mention because I don't think it did anything but who knows. When I was upgrading my NT manually I also downloaded the NC upgrade and sideloaded it (like if I was upgrading it manually) and then let it go to sleep per the instructions. It never did anything like install but when I connected it to my PC and looked the side loaded zip file was gone and then when I started unarchiving and installing everything worked.

Sorry to hear about the problems you (and some others) are having.
B&N tells me to go to the app provider and the app provider tells me to go to B&N.
I'm not sure who you were talking to, but you should ask to speak to their supervisor, and let them know they are dispensing bogus information.
The App providers (aka, developers) have no control whatsoever over the app loading, installation, archival, or unarchiving process. Therefore there's nothing they can do to fix a problem which is, quite obviously, one of B&N's making. THEY are the ones that need to take the time to figure out why this is happening, and correct it. Of course, their time is limited (may actually be 0 at this point), and unless they get a lot of similar complaints, they will ignore your problems and leave you on your own.
This is why I am hesitant to purchase apps.
That's an unfortunate outcome.

I am not able to install apps since this latest update either.
They download, then it says installing then flips back to download and repeats.
Rebooting, archiving, deleting and adding it back in, leaving it off overnight...none of those things work. I do not feel like starting over again, I have done that too many times. My dad is having the same problem on his NC. This is my 2nd NC.

We are having the same problem. I called cs, on the phone for over 30 minutes, repeated what was going on at least 10 times, and no answers. I finally got so frustrated with the rep I said I'd have to call back another time.

For this:
I don't know why archiving everything and then unarchiving everything would suddenly allow those few new apps that I had purchased to install?! Not complaining but makes me wonder.
*****
It probably works because when you Archive everything it frees up memory and it updates the Nook (think of it as the Nook being told - you now have X free memory).
Sometimes what might happen is either:
1) You don't have enough free space available to install an app.
OR
2) You have enough free space but the Nook has the wrong count of how much free space is available.
*****
When you Archive a few apps and restart your Nook Color - then it both frees up memory and also updates your Nook on how much free memory is available.
We've had a few customers contact us about this issue across our apps and every time what worked was:
1) Find all the Apps you aren't using and archive them all.
2) Restart Nook Color.
3) Now download the App you were trying to download and install.
I ran into it too and it worked for me too. I think both steps are neccessary - Archiving as many apps as you can + restarting Nook.

Hi,
Can we just revert back to the update before? Yes, i can download a few apps after i reregister and redo but only at first, then i cant download anymore. This is getting to be a pain. What recent update is best? I still want to play netflix.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same issue. I had chatted with a Nook Expert on B&N site. Expert adviced me to deregister and reregister again and problem will be solved. And i did what he said, after reregisteriation surprisingly i could download and install apps and other things.. But after a while it started again not to install anything, even free apps or free tries. I saw new tablet commercial onB&N site. I guess they are busy with the new toy and they dont have enough staff to work for Nook Color problems. Because as i see for not a short time NC users has this problem and no solution. Maybe in my second theory B&N wants us to get bored of NC issues and buy the new tablet? It is possible as well.
Thank you so much B&N but i don't think you can earn our trust easily.

@milik:
Out of curiosity, have you had your Nookcolor for awhile? When you check your alotted memory under settings does it say around 1GB for "Content Storage" and 5GB for "Other Storage"? If so I would recommend going to a B&N store and have a repartition service done to your Nook which will give you more room to download more Apps.
If this is not the case then nevermind ![]()

What Schwa said.
I've helped dozens of our customers with this issue.
There is no other solution. Register/Deregister etc. don't work.
There are only two solutions.
Solution 1 (Permanent) - What Schwa said. Repartition your device at a B&N store so there is more space for things you buy from B&N.
Solution 2 (Temproary) - Archive apps and books you aren't using (not ones with data). Then RESTART your Nook and then downloads will work.
Please Note: You have to archive LOTS of content and the biggest games to create space. Archiving 2-3 books or 1-2 small apps won't help.

I've had the same issue. Archiving several larger apps did the trick. I've had my Nook Color for a few years, so it looks like I'll need to check into getting repartitioned.

So what happens when the device is already partitioned correctly (I have 5 GB for B&N storage, 1 for other, neither close to full), and the apps still won't download? I have 5 apps stuck in this state since last night. I was going to blame Sandy.

kmz,
have you restarted your Nook after Archiving the Apps?
Press and hold for 20 seconds to turn off.
Press and hold for 4 seconds to turn on.
Sometimes it takes a restart for your Nook to register that more free space is available.

Multiple times. I then tried to deregister & erase, but that operation failed (well, the erase did), so I called support and was walked through a hardware reset of the NC. Things appear to be back to normal now (good thing I back up my library in Calibre, though).

OK. Good to know it's back to normal. I'm going to have to try this 'Backup Library in Calibre' thing. I've not had to deregister/reset my Nooks so far. However, the prospect of redownloading everything seems very unappealing if the need arises.
