Why?  I'd say the vast majority of questions asked here can be answered with the User Guide.

They can be removed from the Home screen if you don't like seeing them.  The file size of the User Guide is so small that it is not an issue.

How do you remove them from the Home Screen?

Re: Deleting User Guide

I just found out how:

If you would like to remove the default books on the Nook Color desktop, here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the desktop (home) using the Nook button.
  2. Press and hold on the book cover you want to remove.
  3. After a couple seconds, a menu pops up with the following options:
    • Read
    • View details
    • Recommend
    • Remove from home
  4. Select the last one: "Remove from home"
  5. Done!

Re: Deleting User Guide

Tap and hold the book cover. A little window of options will open. Choose "remove from home page" tap and it will dissappear.

Re: Deleting User Guide

if you touch it and hold your finger on it for a bit, it will bring up a screen and you click on "remove from home". I can't believe I finally figured it out. yaya lol

Re: Deleting User Guide

All the instructions here just remove it from the home screen. Clearly what people want is to remove them entirely.

There must be a third party untility that can access the hidden partition so that they can be removed. Sure they are small, but they are annoying.

Re: Deleting User Guide

Thank you. File size is irrelevant, if youwant them gone. It seems rather obvious to me by this thread that no one borhers to read them anyway.

Re: Deleting User Guide

Yes, they can be deleted, but:

  1. You have to root the device first.
  2. They will come back on the next B&N update (which will also remove root), because they are technically part of the system, and not in the data partition.

Samsung Garnet Red Galaxy Tab2 (7.0"): Android 4.1.1 rooted
Acer Iconia A500 (two): Android 4.0.3 rooted;; Nook Color: B&N 1.4.3 rooted
Nook Touch (two): B&N 1.2.1 rooted; Nook 1stEd/3G (two): B&N 1.7.0 rooted.
Customer loyalty is earned, not commanded or deserved, and easily lost.
Nothing is foolproof, because fools are so ingenious. Same for rooters.

Re: Deleting User Guide

Next btmowad will be asking how to load the Kindle Fire user manual on his/her nook.  Just sayin'.

Read a good nook lately?
