Highlighting doesn't always work

There are times that I cannot select a word which is very weird. I can select a word to the right, left, above or below that word but the word itself cannot be selected. I don't know if it is a software or a hardware problem. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Can you give a specific example with a specific NOOKbook title, page and word so that we can replicate?

I have had the same problem.  I actually thought it was something with the touch screen.

Yep, I've run into the same problem. Just today while reading Black Order by James Rollins, tried to highlight a word to show a friend how to highlight...couldn't get it work on the word I pressed. So I chose another word in the paragraph and that worked.

I have had similar issues - but I specifically tried to highlight an entire sentence and a passage  - it will not do it. I have tried it on numerous books to no avail. Can only highlight individual words and sometimes it does not work.
