Nook Color Dictonary

Greetings,

I did not buy any book from B&N yet.

I already have a bunch of books for my Ipad that I uploaded from my computer (.epub and .pdfs files) to the Nook Color sucesfully.

Countrary to my ipad ibook, I can't tap a word and have the dictionary option working. Is there anything I am missing out to make it work?

Thank you

Don't "tap" briefly on the word, but "press and hold" for a second or so.  You'll see a pop-up menu...select "look up."

Re: Nook Color Dictonary

Got a color nook for Christmas, I really like it! Had my doubts about e-readers but this is really cool. The ability to read in bed without a lamp, on a plane...

I do however have to say the dictionary is very weak, half the words I look up are not avail and the words inside the definitions are not "hot" so I have to get another dictionary.

A better dictionary would make this thing perfect. are any avail to download?

For epub books, yes. For PDF, you don't have dictionary access. The NC only lets you read a PDF but you don't get the epub features, unfortunately.

Re: Nook Color Dictonary

I found out the dictionary only works with the B&N books. All the epub files I transfered from my pc do not work with the dictionary...bummer because it works fine on my ipad....

That's odd.  Of all my non-B&N epubs, I haven't found one yet that the dictionary didn't work with.

Mine work fine. Where did you download your epub books from? I got mine from www.epubbooks.com.

Kestak may be referring to it not working with PDF files or Microsoft Office docs, etc.

Re: Nook Color Dictonary

I just received the Nook color. I also have the classic Nook. On the classic Nook I can type in any word I want to look up, but I can't seem to discover if that can be done on the color nook?

I found that being able to use my classic Nook as a dictionary if needed was very helpful.

Is there a way to do this on the color nook?

Thanks
